Two Nigerians Arrested By Ghanaians For Peaceful Protest by Eldavido1: 6:02am On Jul 26, 2014
The Accra Police command
has arrested two Nigerians who joined Thursday's demonstration in
Accra.
The police say the demonstration was meant for Ghanaians and
Ghanaians alone.
"It was not for other nationals to join," Joseph Obenefo Darkwa of the
police CID told Joy News.
The two held the Nigerian flag side-by-side right in the belly of the
demonstrators, singing their own songs and chanting.
One of them told Myjoyonline.com right in the middle of the
demonstration that: "We are comrades from Nigeria. We are protesting
fuel prices hikes. We have undergone similar things in Nigeria around
January. We believe in a united Africa. Nigeria and Ghanaians we are
brothers. Whatever affects Ghanaians affect Nigerians. So we are here
in solidarity with Ghana."
But it appears the police are not convinced by his explanation,
however innocent it sounded.
Joseph Obenefo Darkwa said the conduct of the two was "offensive."
Ahead of the Thursday's demonstration security expert at the Kofi
Annan International Peacekeeping Centre Dr Kwasi Aning had hinted of
the possibility of the demonstration being infiltrated by fifth columnist
or elements to foment trouble.
It is however too soon to conclude the two arrested Nigerian have any
such ulterior motives
Joseph Obenefo Darkwa said the police have begun profiling the two
gentlemen and are investigating their conduct.
Meanwhile, the police say the demonstration was highly successful.
Police Public Affairs Director DSP Cephas Arthur said they were
professional in the dealings with the demonstrators, but was quick to
express his disappointment with the decision by the demonstrators to
abort an initial plan to converge at the Hearts park and instead chose
the Independence Square.

The arrest makes absolutely no sense at all, I have never heard of a
demonstration for nationals only, the two Nigerian brothers are
Africans who were demonstrating in Africa, in solidarity with their
Ghanaian family, there is nothing subversive about their actions.
Ghana is a founding member of a continental organization known as:
"The African Union", however, the reactionary NDC & NPP don't seem
to understand the true concept of African unity, hence the reason for
their unnecessary attacks on Nigerian Nationals.
Africa's enemies are marshaling their forces in and around Africa, like
hungry vicious predators, from the Zionists, to the Jahidists, to
Africa's former colonialists, and the best that some backward
neocolonialist African governments can do is to engage in policies and
practices of isolationism/micro nationalism.
There will come a time when Ghana will need the help of other African
Nations, and if tribalists and micro nationalists in Parliament don't
wake up and embrace the concept of African unity, we shall all perish
like fools.

to steal and defraud people; they always want
enjoy where they haven't toiled. One cannot
imagine the number of Nigerian involved in
thievery, burglary etc. They're just pathetic
people. We hope the courts won't treat this case

For even a nigerian to join in the protest shows the level of freedom in the country and I think we share similar problems.. Instead of the immature beef I think we have a lot to learn from each other as to how to be a better nation..speaking of the police so far as am concerned all afrrican police are corrupt.. Nigerian police is the most corrupt to me.. But wetin man use him eye see for bene officals .. That one is on a kentro level.. Nigeria and ghana police sef no dey do that kind thing

suwailad: They just hate Nigerians, plain simple.
I lived in ghana for 4 years and I can say not all ghanians hate all nigerians . Many educated ghanians love nigerians because they know nigerians are smart and intelligent, but to be frank and honest no ghanian will like a nigerian who does nothing but shout and drink and commit crime. There are many nigerian professionals doing very very well in ghana and have integrated themselves into the society it is however interesting to note that even these set of nigerians don't like associating with most nigerian except they know you are the responsible type,I met one at the us embassy in accra and I spoke in yoruba ,she shunned me but when she saw what I came to do and how I was relating to ppl there she later apologised . But in an office I went to the first notice on the information was about a nigerian that duped them , so just like everywhere else if you behave urself and comport yourself in a respectable manner ,definitely reasonable and responsible ppl will love to associate with you irrespective of your nationality

I am sure the 2 fools are typical flat headed eebos typically overreaching themselves and causing hatred on themselves. the other day some of their types were agitating to vote in south Africa.and just recently their semi literate ohaneze indeebo leader was gunning for the Lagos state governorship..funnily enough, the stubborn goats will start complaining when they are served their just desserts...

iamord: that's your cup of tea

I don't condone the actions of the two protesters, but i guess it is a free world and their judgement call to join their Ghanaian brothers to protest. They live in Ghana.

The police are out of order to single them out simply becos they had a Nigerian flag showing the solidarity of Nigeria to Ghana. This kind of discrimination will only set West Africa backward and hinder the development of Ecowas.

Ghana has started again, just don't cry when Nigeria retaliates. The Ghana most go saga started like this and today the Ghanaians have forgotten that they initiated the first Nigeria must Go and then we responded.
