The high value placed on being on frontpage in Nairaland by some Nairalanders is not a secret . I've heard so many saying that their first frontpage appearance calls for celebration. And you see people openly criticizing and calling them names for being so excited when they are secretly praying and waiting for the opportunity.
There are people that already has not less than 20 threads to their name but none of the topic hitting the front page. I'm so much in love with what Seun and co are doing, they select the most needed topic for frontpage. In a country where many believes that outcome of all events are influenced by corruption, I was not surprised when I read a post from a fellow Nairalander that he's been cheated and deprived of frontpage. But I ask, what wil the administration of this site gain for doing such? Is there any payment to frontpage appearance? Why should they do it? Nairalanders, this is not victimization but a challenge to you. I know it might be painful for you to see a post lacking best of english ingredients being on frontpage ahead of yours that is better vocabularily. Keep calm! There is a way out.
Though I've been visiting Nairaland almost daily for more than two years now, I officially signed up to Nairaland on 22nd of this month. My first comment and thread came a day later(23/7/2014). The story appeared on frontpage on 25th. Having seen that my effort was appreciated, i created another thread that same day which is currently on frontpage now(29/7/2014). Summarily, within a week of being a Nairalander, I've seen two of my two topic on frontpage. This post is not to praise myself or anything near that but to tell and encourage you that you have the potentials of giving Seun selection headache. You can give him something to think about. If it's by English/vocabulary composition and competence, 80% of the post that are not on frontpage are better than mine. I'm not underrating myself. That's the gosple truth, we all are learning. Then why am I recording 100% thread appearance on frontpage? What is the secret? It's not a big deal...

1. Give the Supreme Being His place in everything you are doing in life.
2. Don't post/create a thread because you WANT to but because you NEED to.
3. Don't create because others are creating. Be self motivated.
4. Let the interest, need etc of the readers(other Nairalanders) be your priority. Post what they need not what you like.
5. Discover the area(category) you are good in. Don't be jack of all trades; master of none. I can boldly tell you that when it comes to Culture and Sports, they are very few here that can challenge me. It's not pride, you have a gift.
6. Always try to be yourself. That's what makes you unique. I know there is nothing as challenging as this. I happily and willingly received many abusive and offensive words because my second post for being original, raw and real. I learnt a lot from that. Don't americanize your view/opinion.
7. Let you topic be free of any form of illegality and fraud. False information and character assasination may transport you to court. Let it be something you can accept responsibilty of even before an armed millitary man.
8. Don't use abusive or faulty words. Try not to insult, harm or hurt the feelings of another knowingly or unknowingly with your thread.
9. Be your brothers keeper. Don't let your post cause your brother or sister to sin.
10. The last but not the least, don't forget the fact that we are one. As such, avoid any form of tribalism, racism, religion clash etc in your thread.

Before you think I'm so much carried away by this frontpage things, know this; there is no better encouragement than the feeling that your effort have been appreciated and recommended.

If you follow the above steps carefully, i bet atleast four of your five topics will always appear on frontpage. I know you can do it...

I doubt if you have said any new thing that we don't already know or that is not obvious. The modes on Nairaland choose and pick what makes FrontPage based on their moods most of the time.
