This is very sad. To think these guys are braving the Russian weather and are forced to study in absolute penury breaks my heart. $800 a year for accommodation? That's wicked. OP contact Omojuwa, Eggheader & other activists on twitter and present your case. In this period of campaign activities, enough pressure from critics can force the govts hand. 2 Likes |

Sorry op for your plight. But we know you got the scholarship through one connection or the other and we didn't hear you complain about that. The government was definitely your friend at that Point in time despite her irresponsibility. Now I'm surprised on how you expect commitment from an irresponsible friend. Pls spare me the 'merit' talk, we know how it happens. 3 Likes |

Well,it is not new as far as it is Nigeria... Any day I wake up and still open my eyes in this country, I always wish God gives us a leader away from all these rulers... Being a slave in someone's fatherland... Clueless government with many useless ministers and portfolios... With all their pikins blasting our resources in the foreign country... To all the scholars, may God help you guys... |

hod898: What a sorry situation. Is the reason why most Nigerian students who studied abroad fail to come back to 'develop' their country still far-fetched? They prefer to stay where their talents will be appreciated; countries unlike Nigeria, where every body has a right. These students are suffering while our senators, ministers and ambassadors are always getting prompt pay. Sometimes, I wonder who the 'leaders of tomorrow' really are in Nigeria. |
Re: The Plight Of The Nigerian Overseas Federal Scholarship Students - Ikenna David by Olusanya333(m): 7:29am On Aug 09, 2014 |
hydeka: Very bad. it seems the government is bent on frustrating nigerian students wherever they go. In Nigeria they constantly live with the fear of ASUU strike, fee hikes, etc and also abroad they are made to starve and live under desperate conditions. If we hear now that Nigerian students robbed a bank or caused a riot in Moscow, the government will just term them as 'bad eggs'. I'm not in any way proposing that crime is the way out but this is not the way to encourage the young generation. Absolutely not! |

They should learn from Rivers State Sustainable Development overseas Scholarship. They treat their awardees like king and queens and they don't send them to the above mentioned countries. They send them to USA, UK, Canada, Singapore and India. |
