Hahaha! Hahaha! But wait o0H! (frowns) Who turned my humble thread into a vocabulary battle? Look, if the cognition, of the confidential and unconfidential confidency is presently high, then the moral mentality of our antiqual antiquity would be called to question. (Gramma101) Hahaha!

I was completely honest with my parents about our income and what we could afford. White collar jobs and no money for frivolities. Dad took it from there and tailored the expenses to what his son in-law could afford. It just depends on the kind of in-laws you have and the other factors I mentioned earlier. I know ladies who will insist on full implementation of that list, to show everyone that their husband to-be has "arrived". They forget that there's life after these "few hours" ceremonies!

Yes! Guys am back . It was a success. The warm reception given to me and my people was very intresting and fun filled. They asked her to accept or reject me b4 they wil drink. She simply smiled. And before i could say jack robinson, d palmwine glasses appeared and d atmosphare was that of complete merriment. YES, d list is so long but not as outrageous as some posted here. Cheers!

omash: Me my fiancee is from imo and umuaka to be precise.she' s d first child and only daughter and I'm from delta state from the riverine area. So any hope for me and my parent are late before I indulge in a white elephant project cool
I am from Umuaka - Orlu. And I can assure you to go ahead with your marriage plans. Unlike other clans in Imo state (like the Mbaise) our traditional marriage is simple and cheap. You only need to work hand in hand with your fiancee. For the Iku aka nuzo, take with you some elders, a keg of Palmwine and a crate of beer. With just these you will be given a list of what to bring for the Mbuzo Mmi. The list consist of the bride price, drinks for refreshment and foodstuffs. Payment in cash is allowed. In the aspect of the bride price you will be requested to pay in cash. Fear not, a large percentage of families will take maybe #50 naira or a lower unit from it, telling you to keep the rest for the upkeep of our daughter - a way of saying that we only gave her to you in marriage and not as an article for sale. And that we have the right to take her back from you whenever you turn around to mal treat or make her your punching bag in future. This was exactly how we did my younger sister's when our inlaws came for her hand in marriage. Importantly, despite how cost efficient it is to marry a girl from my community, the cost or success of your marriage will also be determined by your father inlaw. In his absence the girls elder brother (Diokpara) will also be a major factor. That is why you need to be close to him before you proceed with the trado marriage. He will come handy in helping you cancel some of the request inscribed in the list. Even this list has been trimmed down by my Umunna's for years now, making it flexible for our daughters to get married easily.

noskybanj: If ur wife 2 b is from Anambra, Enugu or sm oda parts of Anambra state, den u r safe, u dnt need 2 go with much. Bt if she is from IMO State, my guy go nd empty ur account, borrow from family nd friends, nd den pray dat dat will b enough.
Shut your trap. What do you know about Imo marriage? Don't lump every clan in Imo state in that your bias analysis. As for cost marriages only people from Mbaise and to a lesser extent Owerri do such. People from Orlu - Imo west don't subscribe to the idea of wrecking a man who just came to take our daughters hand in marriage. I don't know about the Okigwe's. But when I mean Orlu, I mean communities that encamp from Ideato to Oru down to Isu. Apart from the Mbaise, clans from Umuahia to the whole of Abia are the most expensive places to seek a wife from. So take note before mis-informing the public. Especially those who haven't been to Igboland before. My warning!

my wonderful, and respected nairalanders. I need matured minds here to help me in settling the list, since i want to do it in a low key, and then do my wedding. Pls i want experienced single or married couples to comment here. Pls don't use it to abuse others. U can marry a cheap wife but other circumstances wil make u spend more, vice versa. Thanks, we lov u all.
