Chai! Nwanne nwelunu ya nwayor, Akwa ibom people are our good neighbours, no need for this nah, if you are not comfortable with the content of this thread, just 'stylishly' avoid the thread. And btw, the Edikaikong is cool, it's common in Aba,i tasted it there, and it was great. When you visit Aba or Akwa cross, try to taste one without any bias,i promise you, you would like the soup.

Nnaa, they have good food and i never doubt that but saying they have the best soup is a big lie.

This is terrorism of the stomach. How can you put such inviting pix up there when I'm not gonna be doing actual tasting.

I hereby sue you for inciting hunger (abi na hunger incitement)!!

Expect a court summon soon!

This is not soup, this is stew.

Soup- a liquid dish, typically made by boiling meat, fish, or vegetables, etc., in stock or water.

Stew- a dish of meat and vegetables cooked slowly in liquid in a closed dish or pan.
"lamb stew"

You have to understand that everybody's soup is best to them, i understand.

Mana, nwanna, ofe ndi Calabar afu di tight o! I would put it up there with Nsala, ofe onugbu and Egwusi soups as my favourites.

And as a matter of convention, Ndiigbo shouldn't be seen playing 'party crashers' to the only Nigerian group that habour no envy, jealousy or hate for us. Lets allow our good neighbours enjoy this thread, and not turn it to a dick measuring contest.

I tasted Afang, and didn't really like it that much, but Edikaikong was the bomb!

Could it be that the lady that served me the Afang isn't good at preparing it, or is Edikaikong generally better than Afang soup?

Are there AkwaCross people that prefer Afang to Edikaikong?

Does Kukwo mean soup in Ibibio/Annang/Efik?
It comes from the ibibio food called 'ekpangkukwo' which is a little mixture cocoyam and much wateryam that's grated, mixed with ingredients, fish, periwinkles inerds, (some use chopped meat) and wrapped in leaves ( tender spinach leaves can do) and boiled to cook. Trust me, that's one lip sucking finger and elbow licking delicacy.

A well prepared Edikaikong soup can make one doze off in the restaurant even before finishing it. I have experienced this in a very popular restaurant in my home town(Uyo)when a man dozed off when he finished the meal and i had to pause for some seconds to ask what's happening to this man OR is it that they've added something to his food Some guys smiled at me & said the blood tonic is really performing wonders in his blood stream so i shouldn't worry cheesy grin grin. It's not all about the display of pictures but try a well prepared one and your life won't remain the same.

rahazaqa: lol!! Efo riro turning Men to Mumu since 1800!!
I'm Yoruba and Akwa Ibom (don't ask me how) but I can tell you from experience, Yoruba delicacies are delicious but no match for Niger Delta/Igbo delicacies. Trust me! Go to Uyo Le Meridien, order for afang, or edikaikong, fufu and palmwine my dear you'd lick your finger, elbow, and armpit from there no more going back. But don't go near those fair beautiful figure 8 ladies except you wish to say goodbye to your wife or girlfriend.

Not totally true, but well I can I don't like all yoruba delicacy. I hate 'eko', I hate the way ibadan restaurants prepare egusi soups, rice, but I love their black amala, ewedu, gbegiri and huge goat meat balls. In tomato stew bath all in one plate. I also love kpukpuru and groundnut soup with big black dried fish and meat balls(ondo delicacy from ikale people). But that said, Akwa Ibom's delicacies are miles ahead.

Sounds delicious, i guess it would be hard to find the soup in Aba restaurants, my best bet should be Akwa ibom, when next i visit Eket, i must search for a restaurant serving that soup.

Ok. I wonder how my Azumini people ended up borrowing a word from their Akwa ibom neighbours, only to end up using it wrongly. Haha! Funny world.

Re: Edikaikong - The King Of Nigerian Soups by Nobody: 9:15am On Aug 13, 2014
I grew up having friends from diff part of Nigeria. We make our cuisine and eat from one another. I love trying diff food. But you have to tell me what it taste like in order to program my mind earlier.
This is the ONLY soup that made me eat eba in the morning before lectures. After eating it the day before, made by my room mate, I woke her up the next morning for breakie.

See as we chop finish, enter class. See sleep shocked. I slept throughout the lecture. I had to return back to continue the sleep. Anyway, I didn't regret eating it for breakie.
Learnt the step, cooked at home, now this is what we eat in place of the normal spinach soup. My dad banned that normal spinach soup.

If you don't try this soup, before dying. Sorry,
