Is the truck on the street or in a garage/private residence?
Re: > by adexcarz(m): 5:49am On Oct 21, 2008
Its on the street as i speak.
Re: > by dayleke: 6:03am On Oct 21, 2008
Which area in Bk are we talking about?
if there's any 24hr parking lot or garage nearby,u better take it there.NY's finest don't play when it comes to that.After getting ticket(s),u will still get towed.

@adexcarz, I really feel bad for your situation. This is a tough one. Do you know anyone even in New Jersey that has a yard at their home that you can drop the vehicle with temporarily? New York is pretty scary for a car without plate number.

You can also look for a shipper and have the car moved to their warehouse and this should free you from your current nightmare. I am in Dallas but the guys in the east coast can link you up with car movers that can move the vehicle in a matter of hours and they will also link you up with shippers.

I will suggest you contact Jenju at "tikola70@hotmail.com". He should be able to sort something out for you.

Ziontrain where are you Jenju are you going to remain silent on my issue. Some should just advice me. All the parking lot around BK wouldn't accept a car without a License plate.

adexcarz,

Send me an email tikola70@hotmail.com. If you have the car's title that has been assigned to you and we can cross reference the name on the title with that on your driver's licence, I can arrange for someone to pick the car up and drop it at any location you need.

By the way, you don't get to keep the original owner's license plates when you buy a car. You have to register the car to obtain your own license plate. All you can do now is to have the car towed. You can also try to find one of those storage facilities that are big enough to hold your car (approx $100/month), then tow your car to the location.

Send your phone number to me and I'll call you.

Cheers,
J

@Jenju,
I just sent you a message to your private email.
Re: > by Fhemmmy: 6:49pm On Oct 21, 2008
The car is parked somewhere and Jenju already gave you a shipping agent, if you have called the shipping agent already and made arrangement with them, then:

1. Call the shipping agent that you have bought the car, get their address, since u guys have agreed upon a price.
2. Call some towing vehicles close to where the ride is.
3. Arrange on how they cld tow the vehicle to the shipping agents office and take it from there.
but make sure u have all the proper docs oh, so that it doesnt look like you wanna steal the ride.
My guy take am easy oh, else, u go get hypertension and you dont need that.
good luck.

Re: > by ToToChoper: 9:57pm On Oct 21, 2008
The question is are you driving the vehicle or shipping it to Nigeria?

Relax, this shouldn't be no cause for alarm as it is required by the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) that plates be turned in within 10 days of driving without insurance in most states. My guess is that after making this sale, the prior owner probably intends to cancel his vehicle insurance (meaning no more payments) lest receive a flag on his driver's license.

Now with a flag on your license, you cannot renew that license unless you pay the penalty to lift the flag. So essentially the seller is only protecting his/her neck. Infact most private sellers would go this route if you ask me.

I would suggest towing the vehicle to the shipping agent to avoid unnecessary problems from the NYPD.

The license plate from New York issue can be solved by getting any license plate from the junk yard---you just can't drive that ML in the State of New York without it's proper registered plates.

cry shocked

Doesn't your contact have friends to ask for help?.
Try the seller's no. if he could pity your dilemma.

A big lesson to us ,

@ToToChoper,
Shipping to Nigeria. I don't even live in NY. My contacts doesn't have a drivers license to make the case worse.

NY is not joke true but your contact can go to the DMV (if they are still open) to get a 1/3 day trip permit for like $21 as long as he/she has the title and stuff.

@ Ziontrain
Where do you stay in Dallas? Not presently in Dallas but that's my home
Re: > by ziontrain: 11:28pm On Oct 21, 2008

There is nothing to worry abt my guy.
Like i said earlier, call up the shipping coy, call up/ get the number for towing companies in the area where the vehicle is located and have the ride towed to the shipper, might cost you some good money depending on the distance from where the vehicle is been take from to where the shipper is.
And as long as the shipper is paid, have your friend to take care of the transaction for you and all will be fine.
It is not as bad as you are making it look, all will work out well.
Good luck.

@Fhemmmy,
No mind me oooh. I think with what you have said i will try and get a 2 hrs sleep tonight. My contacts just faxed the paper work for the wire transfer and the vechile papers. So I'm expecting the dock receipt from the company then i can go from there. The only thing I'm scared of is the NYPD towing the truck. It wont happen in Jesus name. Thanks all.

Yes, they could tow the vehicle if parked on the street with no plate and all that, however, to prevent that, have it towed to your friend's house in the meantime, while you doing the run around for the shipping to be ready, and if your friend dont have a place to park it, rent a storage place, they do have space to park vehicles and they charge you like 100$ per month, cheaper than being towed away by the cops.
Good luck.

What you are saying could be true, i had that in mind but not in this direction.
Any way we should not poison the mind of the people that would want to help him out.
You can then talk after the guy must have come out of his supposed predicaments.

tell us your view of the whole arrangement, the point I'm letting out is that, there is no predicament in the first place, does this whole episode sound reasonable to you, just sit and think over it. Haba
