Befor I bought the spectranet mobile WiFi, I used to use etisalat, etisalat was really fast, I was frustrated by Mtn network issues that was why I switched to etisalat. I enjoyed every minute on the network. I used to buy the 8k for 6G and Wld be given a 30percent bonus on the 6G. I usually use this data bundle for almost a mth. Somtimes it runs out at either the 28th or 29th because I'm a heavy browser. So I decided to go for spectranet 20G. In less than a week, spectranet zapped almost 5G.I was shocked and thought Pple were actually tapping from my bandwidth and the reverse was d case. I use almost 8G frm etisalat conveniently for almost a mth and I use same 8g frm spectranet in 9days. It's still the same pages I normally open while using etisalat that I still open on spectranet. Why has spectranet decided to gv false gigabytes just to lure Pple to buy their service.
Pls pardon this my epistle. Pls is anyone experiencing same challenges on the netwk bcus I find it hard to bliv I Wld use 8g in 9days.

Are u sure no nigga is palm-wine tapping from ur wifi network? If itz a wifi device u need to change ur password nd watch it for some days. Bt If itz a dongle u have to report to the office u bought it from, mayb they can help u review ur data usage.

Yes I'm sure no one is tapping frm it. @dazekid, I normally use 8g for almost 31days wen I was using etisalat, so how come I'm using same 8g in 9days, there's no logical explanation to it. They probably charge ridiculously per KB , I have no idea inn how to check it, would have done that.

The faster the speed, the more you are likely to consume... Thats 4G for you...

Sorry for your experience... One thing you seem not to have mentioned/addressed this far is whether or not you have gotten in touch with their customer service regarding your complaint? I bet some on here would like to know the outcome of that...

pls check you mifi balance it shows what yuu have used, then check the webzsite stats of yuur usage.

somethimes i even get 200-400mb free when i dont renew before expirey date so menh check yuur side proper

@ELff, u are not alone. Spectranet said I exhausted my 20G in 2 weeks and I didn't even download or stream anything online. Nobody tell me sha before I port leave them with their fraud and nothing will ever mk me go bk to dem with their bad illiterate customer care officers

yes i also understand that the faster the speed, the more it consumes but the max one gets is 2mmbps unlike etisalat which i normally get 3mbps or 4mbps depending on how stable the network is. So whichever way u check it, u find out that either they are under the pretense of actually giving u 20g for 30 days but in the real sense its not upto or their charge per KB is just ridiculously high.

that's why i am highly surprised, i don't do YouTube videos or watch anything online, i don't upload large files or download heavy files/movies either, so I honestly cannot comprehend why and how 8g would go down in 9days. while i was using etisalat, i used to share that same 8G with my friend whom stayed with me for a while and it still gets upto 28 or 29 days and that my friend does a lot online then but i still get upto 28days before it runs out. Immediately i downloaded iPhone 5c file which is about 1.4gb and a Nexus 4 Android L ROM which is about 500mb plus the little browsing that led to the download page, everything shouldn't be more than 2gb data. Guess what I got when i checked my balance after the downloads were completed?

15gb remaining! Chai! This is robbery in day light. After this one expire, im dumping the goddamn Wifi, and porting to etisalat or mtn.

i downloaded Need For Speed and MK9 3.3gb and 4Gb from PSN mine calculated properly. my 20gb finished yesterday just one day left for it to Expire i check my mifi and it says i used 20.27Gb in one month ...

i cant say much but i advise you visit there office and complain maybe somthin is wrong doont just dump em , although etisalat is fast and nice but you cant get 20gb for 7k on etisalat.. if your talkin abt bonus ask your self what if they stop it like that airtel 4gb for 1.5k mm??

When you say you don't get 3mbps, do you mean mega bytes ps or mega bits
Coz I get and top 3mega bytes per second on spectranet..I live at Ojodu Beger though..And etisalat does not go beyond 1.2mega bytes per second..

If you are using it only on a device, try using a 3rd party data manager to monitor your usage. If the difference is enormous know you are cheated.
Switch to Etisalat their thorough put size is far better.

By the way I could offer 10Gb on Etisalat at N7000

Guys it's not a question of if you are not doing something right! SPECTRANET Internet service is a big Scam, i have complained to them several times,change my password often guess what they claim i used up my 20G data less than 5 days of renewing my subscription. as a matter of fact i noticed this cheating of a thing started when they gave us the 4G modem, i have monitored my usage, a system connected, i told them a strange i.p address is using my data, when i traced the i.p address (with Google I.P trace)guess what! its from their office address. i change my plan and yet na same story.

By his grace am potting to another provided after using them for close to four years now.

And i noticed the newer the better.

This is true a friend yesterday told me he downloaded file of 3gb and that exhausted a whole 7gb on his account, again about seeing some kind of connection adding to the device , i dint know how that happens every time because i just buy my mobile wifi few days ago and all this am reading about spectranet now not really encouraging

This guy's experience is exactly what I have been facing since I switched to spectranet. These guys are really Frauds. I thought I was going crazy when you tell them at their office they are quick to point you to the fact that they are very fast hence your data gets used up quickly. But it's all a properly rehearsed lie they all tell. If you then draw their attention to the fact that you should only be charged for the data you request regardless of the speed, they have no defence but to push the speed issue. and the freaking thing is not all that fast in my neighborhood. I had mobitel working much much faster and I used much less data for longer with Mobitel. SPECTRANET SHOULD BE SHUTDOWN BY THE NCC. Mayber we should be talking class action suits at this time. I don't mind joining one.

Can this topic be revived and sent to the frontpage if possible: There is a massive FRAUD going on within the network and users just keep quiet and are helpless... lets get more complaints so we can file something official to NCC

my idea about speed is that when you have a very fast network, you tend to load more pages because you are enjoying the experience... you keep on going and drains your data, a slower connecting gets you discouraged to go further... thats my point

Which speed sef. Are they really faster than other ISPs? Bet Etisalat is much faster in my area.

Can someone please take this to frontpage... There seem to be something significantly wrong with the data consumption. finishing 20gb in 3 weeks without downloading or streaming is alarming. I am thinking of changing to another network.
