Nigeria’s main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed October for the commencement of its primary elections that would culminate in the nomination of its presidential candidate for the 2015 general election.

It also demanded a temporary lifting of the curfew currently in place in Adamawa State in the preparation for the October 11 governorship election in the state.

These are some of the resolutions taken at the party’s National Executive committee meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

The APC spokesperson, Lai Mohammed, said after the meeting that the NEC approved the use of the modified direct primaries for picking the party’s presidential candidate in subsequent elections.

Among members of the party believed to be eyeing the presidency are former military Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and governor of Kano State, Rabi’u Kwankwaso.

Mr. Mohammed said the party demanded the lifting of the curfew in Adamawa state to ensure mass participation in the election.

Buhari had 17% of the total votes cast in 2007, while Atiku had only 7%, despite Buhari coming from the same state with the Late Pres. Yaradua. What about the 2011 Election in which Atiku lost his Primaries to Jonadaf.t?! Try and reason well my guy.

I believe you only want Atiku to win the Primaries not because you like him, nor because he's stronger; but because you know that's the only person GEJ can win hands down come February 14.

APC did their National Convention to elect Excos......the same town criers spammed the cyberspace with divinations of cataclysm yet APC have weathered the storm......infact Tom ikimi who authored a lamentation epistle in the aftermath of the elections have just been named as one of the BOT members
