Boko Haram Kidnaps 36 Officers From Police Academy In Borno by aaron6190: 8:02pm On Aug 24, 2014
This past Wednesday, extremist group Boko Haram launched an attack on police academies located in the northeastern Borno state of Nigeria. Following an intense gun battle that continued for several hours, the group disappeared. In their wake, 35 police officers went missing. Emmanual Ojukwu, the police spokesman, released a statement that indicates an investigation is underway to locate the missing officers. Ojukwu said they have “promising prospects of locating them.” Officials are not sharing if they believe the men were killed or kidnapped by Boko Haram.
Since 2009, Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the deaths of 10,000 people in Nigeria. They have aimed massive attacks against police and military forces since that time.
Reportedly, Boko Haram has taken control of major areas of Borno, and potentially a neighboring town in Yobe state. Pressure has been weak from government officials who called a state of emergency last May. President Goodluck Jonathan has come under scrutiny from citizens and world leaders, who indicate he is not providing more information for assistance.
Earlier this year, Boko Haram entered the northeastern town of Chibok in Borno state, and launched an attack against an all girls school. They kidnapped more than 250 girls, more than 200 are still missing.
Officials had previously hinted they know the whereabouts of the girls, but have done little to provide the information to countries who wish to assist. Nigerian officials advised they need to tread carefully when it comes to rescuing the girls, as they do not want to put them in further danger.
They also outlawed all peaceful marches from citizens demanding the rescue of the girls, stating the marches could antagonize the situation with Boko Haram.
With the most recent attack, and now 35 police officers missing, citizens are demanding a response from government officials. Boko Haram has left a path of bodies, destruction and has no intention of stopping.

Nigeria has no govt. Citizens live at the mercy of God. Now that police that are suppose to protect the masses cannot protect themselves, then each an everyone of us should hold what we believe in seriously for protection.
