Boko Haram Recaptures Gamboru-ngala by Nobody: 2:41pm On Aug 25, 2014
Insurgents of the Islamist terror group, Boko
Haram, today made further advances in territorial
grab by once more taking over Gamboru-Ngala, a
key township on the border between Nigeria and
Cameroon.
Today’s attack by a heavily armed contingent of
the terror sect marked the second time Boko
Haram fighters targeted and seized parts of the
town.
In the latest operation, the insurgents first
attacked and sacked an army barracks in Ngala
before proceeding to Gamboru about three
kilometers away. The sect took over the town
without resistance from Nigerian troops.
In a response to the attacks, the Nigerian Air Force
jet later dropped a massive bomb in the middle of
Gamboru after hovering for several minutes in the
air. The jet then left while the militants began a
house-to-house raid in Gamboru.
A contingent of Nigerian troops was later seen
massing close to a bridge earlier destroyed by
insurgents during their first attack on Gamboru.
A security source told SaharaReporters that Boko
Haram desperately wants to seize full control of
Gamboru-Ngala because the extensive area offers
great strategic advantages.
“If they completely capture the township, Boko
Haram will be able to use it to transact economic
and military business,” said the source.
He further explained, “The township will enable
them [to] freely move arms into Nigeria in order
to fortify their control of the seized territories they
have declared an Islamic Caliphate.”
In a video released yesterday and obtained by
SaharaReporters, the insurgent leader, Abubakar
Shekau, stated that his group did not recognise
Nigeria. Instead, he declared that the sect had
established a caliphate, or Islamic geopolitical
entity.
Among towns and areas under the sect’s control
are Gwoza and Marte in Borno State, Buni Yadi in
Yobe State, and Madagali in Adamawa State.

THE greatest threat facing the nation’s war against the Boko Haram and other Islamist insurgents has to do with the unprecedented acts of sabotage that the national assignment is facing. Never at any other time in the history of Nigeria had the army been so bedeviled by internal and external undermining of efforts to rid the country of terrorists and other enemies of her unity and progress.
The sabotage comes in so many forms. It is both within and outside the confines of the armed forces. According to media reports, some military officers with sympathy for the cause of the insurgents sometimes reportedly divulge critical information about the plans of the military to undertake campaigns or even funnel military equipment to their partisans in the enemy camp. This, we learnt, has led to the unceremonious cancellation of such campaigns to avoid putting officers and men in danger of running into ambushes.
One of the greatest forms of the sabotage is misinformation. Many sympathisers of Boko Haram are very eager to approach, mainly, the foreign media to say uncomplimentary things about our armed forces . They create an impression of Boko Haram as an invincible force and Sambisa, their chosen camp, as an impregnable fortress. It is this misinformation and the subsequent avoidable losses in men and military material that give rise to the tales of real or imagined “mutinies” and protests among our men under arms.
The military high command, as well as their supervisory political authorities, must take firm steps to discourage acts of sabotage against our men and women confronting the terrorists. We are fully in support of the assurance by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Kenneth Minimah, that the army will henceforth go tough on saboteurs and visit them with the strictest dictates of the law when nabbed and convicted of the crime.
We are also gratified to note that army is on the verge of taking delivery of sophisticated equipment. It will surely boost morale among the troops and spur them to greater effort to flush the terrorists out of Nigeria.
We call on the mass media to redouble their efforts and throw their full support for the armed forces. More efforts should be made to de-emphasise the dissemination of sensational and unsubstantiated information because we may be unwittingly playing into the hands of the terrorists. It is important for media houses to take a closer hold of their online editions and minimise their use by the terrorists and their supporters to achieve their evil purposes.
The war on terror is not for the army, security agencies or the federal government alone. It is a collective effort. We must report suspected saboteurs to the appropriate authorities and keep our communities safe.

hope this isn't a strategy by GEJ to pressurize nigerians to agree, allowing him to borrow the $1billion by starving our military the needed fund. Making the NA to be defeated by the boko haram!

THE TRUTH IS SIMPLY JUST BITTER in your case 2 BITTER 2 BELIEVE

We are getting reports from multiple credible sources we have seen the video Boko are now like a mini ISIS having seized a T55 MTB, a few Steyr tracked APC's with HMG's, the dreaded ZSU Shilka and multiple pick ups. I actually thought the Nigerian troops were very brave to be fighting with 20mm cannons on technicals with their antiquated AK47's quite clearly zero air support left to roast by top brass.

Is it when they ROLL into Abuja before the reality will dawn on you. WATER DON PASS GARI

Just like someone pointed out,it took islamic rebels less than a month before they captured northern Mali uncluding the town of Gao.

It took the ISIS less than one month to seize control of half of libya Iraq including the town of Mosul.

So why is it taking Boko haram forever to capture a mere local local govt in Bornu state.Anyone who says Boko is winning the war should bury their head in shame

Bruv I just saw an AFP video on Youtube in which you could see Nigerian soldiers running away while being shot at by BH.

In the same video you can see BH loading the spoils of war into trucks seized from NA. BH even had an APC with a gunner on it.
