I want to know which rural communities and villages have the most progressive populace. My progressive I mean sons and daughters working towards the general development of their village. I know many villages in my own Orlu area with individuals that have sited factories, built roads, built schools, and other establishments for the general welfare of their kindred.

These used to be villages before the 80 and 90 surge in development. Yes I agree. These are now suburbs with the exception of Nnewi which went from village to small city within 2 decades.

please dont just go there,this thread is meant to be educative and inspiring among we Igbos and shouldnt be turned to the usual Rochas bashing and denigrating of other fellow great Igbo States....mind you am Anambra and also pro PDP but ther shld be time for everything.
So i put my guess in this order Nnewi,Nneni,Abariba,Ihiala,Osumenyi,Agulu and this is simply because am more familiar with this communities but others may even surpass them.
But in education i may give it to these communities though some are cities but am making reference to their own people Mbaise,Onitsha,Obosi,Owerri,Orlu etc

Most of the roads in Awka Etiti are tarred by individuals.

Individual zeal coupled with common community zeal to industrialize made Nnewi what it is today

So don't bring the issue of govt here

Igbo communities that uphold the spirit of helping each other tend to progress faster than those where individuals care for themselves only

I'm not talking about government involvement, rather progress w/o government. I knew Nnewi would top the list but Abiriba in Abia is what made me post this thread. A lot of the communities in the Orlu zone are like this as well

yea, okorocha should provide the basic amenities and the communities will do their best. In my village, every male member is taxed biannually for grading of the roads in Easter and Xmas. We have been contributing money since 20 years ago to buy poles and get electricity for d village. Is that what we should be doing? Isn't it the work of govt to provide basic amenities?

I saw first bank in Umuleri and Aguleri respectively...

If I am correct

One major secret behind their success is the fact that they engaged in micro-financing of long term low interest loans which is direct opposite of modern micro-financing.

This leads to financial empowerment of individuals which instills the spirit of socio-economic responsibility in them.

Eg Imagine loaning a guy 500 000 loan to be paying 20 000 every month for 3yrs. If the guy do make a profit after expenses like rent and tax of at least 70 000 every month of which he pays his 20 000 loan interest.

If that loan gets that guy out of poverty do you think he won't help others

My advice to Igbos

Let's support community base non collateral long term low interest loans to financially empower ourselves. Then it will be easy for our people to play their role in community development

Any community group that fails to engage in micro-financing has not started community revolution.

There is this community in Abia where you have so many generals that they refer to it as the ''Langtang of Igoland''. That is where Gen Ike Nwachukwu and the immediate past CAS, Gen Ihejirika, hail from.

there is a community in imo state called country 4,it s more developed and tarred..

Go there,you will see foreigners like niger,fulani and malams and our luvly yoruba brodas.
