Maths is Maths, programming is programming. A good knowledge of mathematics will help any programmer for sure but that dosent equate maths and programming. Early computer scientist were mathematicains though. Programming involves the writing, testing, debugging and documenting codes that tells the computer what to do and how to do it. Thats not maths, is it? |

I'd like to differ. Programming is bloody mathematics! But no reason to be scared cos virtually any activity in life involves mathematics. When you try plan your budget for the day, try to collect your change from an aboki that sold suya meat to you, check your wrist watch to find out how long you've been watching a Barcelona match, try to find out the profit you made from your Alaba shop for the week, you are doing some mathematical calculations. Now when it comes to programming, the level of the maths depends on the application you are working on. if for example, you want to make things move with JavaScript, you need the x and y coodinates. if you are trying to build a calculator app, you need, a sort of formula etc. |

bambeolumide: Please I need your opinion. Baba! programming is not 150% math. Logical and analytical thinking is IMHO programming. But when it comes to this subset ,"Graphics Programming", it's 100.9% maths. Just be sure of that. |

Lol. Dont be daunted or shaken by the "Programming is math" scareScrow, heck that even made me 'want to' rethink my programming dreams, just that am one resilient dude, that just made me head forward, and just realized that programming is not that "Mathematical" as my supposed "role models" made it look. Though you need thats in programs, bt at least strike of the taught of doing a long division, solving quadratic equations, plotting from "scratch" as it was back then in schools, most programming languages has ready "Math class" to handle those stuff to some point. E.g in Java, You wouldnt need to round of some figures with hilariously large number of trailing zero mentally, or find the SquareRoot of that terribly huge number maybe 2594645375679 mentally either... Or not just yet, the language pretty much does most of the dirty maths, leaving you to control the results!. I hope i didnt scare you aware from programming? |

Imho: Mathematics is not all about cramming formulars, it teachs you how to think deeply, so that you would be able to generate formulars that can be used to solve problems. So also algorithms . |
