I didn't say they shouldn't eat but eating outside and also in a car was what got my attention...!!! Like someone said, they should have at least closed the doors or use a secluded section or VIP section of the event center. Pls read properly before commenting...!!! |

Didn't they pay / order / sort out refreshments for the event with caterers? Phema: Phema, but you've got to admit it looks badly organised though. What ever happened to wedding guests seating their behinds at their allocated tables, and waiting to be served? Or the bride and groom seated at the table given preferential treatment as they rightly deserve? Abeg I don't get this gist about them starving. EfemenaXY: The way it's done in Naija, there is very little time between when couples finish from the church and when reception starts, which is usually as from 1pm. Most couples are usually not able to eat anything before going to church, so the only time they've got to eat something and freshen up is just before the reception. The moment they dance into into the reception hall, the back-to-back activities begin and the couples won't even remember they've not eaten. Mind you, some receptions take the whole day. Don't get me wrong...I agree it's their wedding, their rules, but even then, it quite discourteous to gobble at the roadside the way the pics here depict. Makes them look greedy even. That's why i don't go to Nigerian organized weddings. It's either I attend the church or reception. It's no brainer that one will have to starve or buy food outside because most end up serving meal around 4 or 5 pm. Mine was very brief, no too much talk talk nor crowd. Everyone sat and eat same time. How will I be hiding in a car, chasing big big flies and mosquitoes, then come out smiling for my guest whom I'm sure haven't had anything to eat . Personaly I dont see the big deal Wedding receptions in Nigeria can be very stressful and full of activity and if one is not careful the bride and groom may not get a chance to eat and so they seem to be hurridly catching something to eat before they go into the reception hall for part 2 or even part 3 of their wedding event. Some do the engagement, church wedding and reception on the same day so its really very hectic. I dont blame them. They must have been up since God knows how early that morning and they still have a very long day to go and if they are not careful they will not get a bite until much later that evening. Becasue many of their guests would have come from afar, many weddings are done with by 5pm so the guests are eating at the same time the bride and groom are cutting cake, dancing etc. Its a very busy day for the couple and they dont have time to sit and eat once the reception starts At my mums birthday party recently it was only when I was watching the dvd that I noticed that there was popcorn, ice cream, barbeque fish & people making amala and poff poff on site and other midi midi. I was too busy to even notice or sit down and eat and If it wasnt for my SIL who forcibly sat me down to eat a few morsels of rice I wouldnt have eaten a thing all day. 2 Likes |

A wedding can be (re-)organized in such a way that everyone eats at the same time before they starve. I find the pictures hilarious. I couldn't enjoy my food like this. Besides, my mum always insisted on serving the guests first. This is called politeness. My two cents. |

carefreewannabe: A wedding can be (re-)organized in such a way that everyone eats at the same time before they starve. I totally agree with this. Simple courtesy, it is. If they feel they're going to starve, then they should ensure that food is served earlier on, and not at the end of the entire ceremony. It's even safer to serve hot foods sooner, rather than later. 1 Like |
