I'm a final year student and honestly, my GP ain't as good as I wish. I'm contemplating dropping some courses and rewriting them next session to boost my GP. please can I resit those exams and still go for NYSC that same year? I talked to my course adviser about it and he said i'll be able to go with the next available batch once my result is out. pls is this possible? what is your advice to me? N.B: I'm 20 years old

In addition to wat d FTC guy said,is ur school gp based on a cumulative scale?...If it is,then u must have a rethink,because if it is,then no matter how good ur grades are,d increase will be very little,though it might help you if ur GP has increased steadily over d years,if it has been flunctuating or risen @ d last,then u must think it thru,so dt u wnt have extra years and still get a 2.2...all d best...whatever d case may be,a 2.2 isn't a guarantee for an unsuccessful life and vice versa with a 2.1..

my final year accounts for 40% of all the GP. all I wanna know now is the possibility of going with the Next available batch of NYSC Members after the release of the results

Like you rightly said earlier, what is worth doing is worth doing well. NYSC will come at its own time, regardless of your grade. Nothing to be hasty about, trust me.

Anyway, it depends on what you want after your first degree. But don't be misled, PGD can't replace your first degree. Employers will ask for your first degree grade before PGD, and that's even if they ask at all.

But is it really possible that I can go for Nysc with ny classmates going for d next batch of service?

Bro, it depends on your school. If your chances are that good, why not wait? It's not a must you go for NYSC with your mates, except maybe there is something attached to it that you don't want to say. You can go a batch after them. Bear this in mind, you can't have your cake and eat it. You have got to make sacrifices to achieve your desire.

Already the job market is a jungle and no guarantee even for a Second Class Upper graduate but you would do no good by limiting your chances in the Job market because of one stupid NYSC program.

NYSC is not running away even if he decides to do NYSC 4 years later. Once again, OP go and rewrite if you are certain you can get a 2:1.

Bros collect your 2.2 and move forward. You never can tell what tomorrow will bring. You might end up not needing your certificate to earn a living. Take it from someone talking from experience.

Who are the people? Friends? Who? Young man, don't allow NYSC and the fear of people's backlash stop you from taking this opportunity. Whatever decision you make now, you will live with it for many years. NYSC is just a year... it doesn't matter a little whatever time you go.

If you believe you'll hit the 2.1 mark after everything,then i advise you go for it..I was in in the same position a couple of years ago and i made the decisions that suited my situation.Just follow your heart.And your so called mates won't get that far by the time you are done with NYSC so you all will still be on the same level trust me.A 2.1 is an advantage in the labour market,it gives you a competitive edge.
