Kay17: Isn't the Christian's allegiance to God rather than the State?

Jer 29:7 New International Version
Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."

Psalm 122:6
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: "May those who love you be secure.

1 Timothy 2:1-2
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

you're JW, right? My allegiance i in the word, and it asks me to seek the peace and prosperity of the State, and pray for her leaders... Since the word has peace and prosperity in it, i dish the state the word then. Simple

The allegiance to one State makes you an enemy with another. Merely wishing a city or your neighbour prosperity does not equate to allegiance to the State. A crucial example is the number of German Christians that fought and defended the Nazi Regime (an epitome of Evil). Wouldn"t you consider that an error??

Going by your logic, you are also guilty of your accusation, people pledge allegiance to their state via different mediums: national anthem, international passport, payment of taxes, NYSC e.t.c

Bible says we should ALL laws of man... ie all laws you find in a city, town, country.. obey, if you don't like the laww, pray for a change or move out

Yes people do. But the pertinent question is what does the true Christian do?

I think practical cases aid our ethical decisions, so I ask you; do you believe the German Christians that supported, propped up and elongated the the Evil called the Nazi regime, obeyed the Bible by obeying earthly authorities?? Note that the Nazi regime was not a representation of Christian values.

Same with people who lived under the Khmer Rouge or Communist states, are the Christians obliged to obey the laws of such States?

Even when I was a christembassy member I was never the rapsody type talk less of now that the church has disappionted me.personally me think that book(rapsody) is overhyped.
I prefer to read bible and not some watered down one page everyday affair with a prayer to confess.
How I wish I can read somewhere "pastor chris reconcile with Anita" but the body language of the man seems my hope is almost unrealistic.

Are you now trying to tell me now that you don't pay taxes, didn't do your NYSC, don't have an international passport?

Point am trying to make is that pledging allegaince is inevitable, there is nothing wrong with subjecting oneself to govt authority so long as it does conflict with our christian values.

Below is the oath of allegiance of judge Rutherford and Nathan knor, watchtowers founding presidents with their signature below it, what is your take on it?

An oath of allegiance is not inevitable, it is optional. There are alternatives.
