MayorofLagos: In fact the two visits were back to back... He was in Ijebu Ode for a function yesterday and quickly stopped by in Lagos, on his way back to Lagos. Returned to Kano yesterday evening. And this is from the horse's mouth. In any case, it is hardly possible for someone's of Emir of Kano's status - whether SLS or any other person - to pass through Lagos without paying courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos - that's why it is called courtesy. This is more so for Sanusi who grew up in Lagos, attended King's College, spent the most part of his career in UBA and FBN in Lagos. 6 Likes |

And somebody tells me SLS is not a religious bigot?. If the aim of the visit was to fraternize with the Yoruba nation, Oba of Lagos was not a good choice. The late emir of Kano had a very robust relationship with Ooni of Ife, the most prominent traditional ruler in Yoruba land, but I don't see the incumbent doing the same. highly dignified kings usually send delegates to represent their interests in very many events. personal visits as such could send signals, especially in a country as Nigeria, were religion and politics poses high stakes ..
