Bank of Agriculture is a government owned bank with money pumped in from CBN. It's branches are in every state capital of Nigeria.

Imaging, BOA in every state capital? How many real farmers live in state capital if not internet farmers. Anyway thanks for the info.

[quote author=kay29000 post=26786812]I am also interested o! I was doing MSc in Agric Geography for a while, but couldn't complete it. I love Agric. I think I read somewhere that you must have started your little farm to an extent to qualify for the loan. Not so sure sha, but I know I read something like that earlier this year.[/ quote]
is that course studied in any Nigeria University pls? It sounds like an interesting prospect to me...

Yes they are in all state Capitals but No, they are not located ONLY in the state capitals. BOA has well over 200 branches across the country. Check the link below, select your state and see the several branches with contacts.

Guys, Bank Of Agriculture isn't the only place you can get Agric funds in Nigeria and without. Bank of Agriculture only gives loans. There's a lot more information on other grants within Nigeria. Look around very deeply, make your research and let's discuss it here.
Local, and Stàte Governments have schemes and grants for farmers, some religious institutions have huge land mass for nothing, looking for available youths.

To be frank, the correct answer is 6 months. But I strongly recommend BoA for any of us who lacks fund but genuinely wish to go into agriculture. I and my brother have applied and we got the loans. And a very interesting aspect of it is that repayment (loan tenor) is 18 months with d first 6 months free grace period! I can supply more details and one-on-one assistance. Send me ur bbm pin or email or whatsapp to faithonbb@yahoo.com. Let's grow together and suceed in our father's land!

Bank of Agriculture loans

A bank known as the Bank of Agriculture, owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria is giving out loans to genuine farmers who can prove their genuineness. The F.G.N has provisioned N200 Billion as loans to farmers and the steps to access the loan are straight forward if you are a genuine person with genuine intentions. If you are an unemployed Nigerian graduate looking for paid employment, pay attention to this post and take a step of faith to key into it.

The steps to obtain the loan are as follows:
1) Locate the office of the Bank of Agriculture that covers the area or local government area where your farm is situated and open an account with the bank with a minimum deposit of N3000.00

2) For the ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) requirements, you must present your NEPA Bill which confirms your place of residence + any of the approved means of identification such as International Passport, Drivers License, National Identity Card or Voters Registration Card.

3) Other requirements are:
Complete and signed account form
Complete and signed mandate card
Present 4 passport photographs of yourself

4) You must run and operate the account for at least 3 -6months before applying for the loan. Do not think that you can just open the account, abandon it and show up after 6 months for the loan. The loan is not the usual national cake and the bank, newly repositioned, is not fooled. If you play that old game, the bank will doubt your integrity and commitment to repay the loan if granted and that means you may not get it.

Running and operating the loan means that you make it an active account. This means making sure that you save money and withdraw from the account on a regular basis. The bank wants to see that there are transactions going on in the account. Therefore, you should make regular deposits and withdrawals on the account during the 6 month period to create an active relationship that makes the bank have confidence in you.

5) You must have an existing farm, at a fixed location and the farm must have its record of operations and activities on a daily basis neatly kept. The era of armchair farmers/political farmers/farms of no fixed address/classroom farmers are over. The bank will visit your farm for inspection when you apply for the loan.

6) The bank will check what you have on ground; see how far you have gone; what the loan is required for, and ensure that the loan is appropriate for what it is required. The bank wants to know whether you have an adequate knowledge of your area of farming business. You must be able to demonstrate the practical hands-on experience in your area of farming. The bank wants to know whether you have a project you are working on and the fund requirements. And within a month of the inspection, the loan will be approved if the bank is satisfied.

You can obtain a loan of N250,000.00 from the Bank of Agriculture without any collateral. With this amount, you can set up a small backyard chicken business that will pay more than the elusive salary job you are seeking. Some graduates earn N15,000.00 monthly in the name of earning a salary.

Many thanks brother,Please brother...I don't understand this area well. You said I must have an existing farm and you also said later that I can set up a small backyard farm with the loan.

Do you mean they give for startups as well?
Or
They don't give for startup?

They loan to startups, but on your own you must have made a move to starting something.
For instance, if you want to get a loan for a poultry, you can start small as at the time you opened an account with them, with N3,000 or lesd you can start a small poultry.
Then when they want to offer you the loan, they would see that you have started something. Then of course you can get an half plot or more to do a bigger poultry when the loan arrives.

Hope this is not a loan programme organized by one woman like that sha? The woman sold plenty of form for us in osun state, duped us by collecting registration money from us...plz if she's the one, better go to the bank jeje and ask for the normal procedure. Once-beaten-twice-shy. The programme is real but plz go to d bank (BOA) and ask, don't buy any form or pay anybody. n

I will give details and contact details when we have more people on this thread.

registration is still ongoing nationwide.even here d major challenge is farmers unions.its difficult capturing sufficient farmers cos of their bureaucratic bottleneck and extraordinary financial demand.nigerians are the reasons we dont feel d impact of govt.we are almost doing house to house campaign on dis project which is a big challenge.but we wil soon get there dont worry.

BOA is withou collateral but you will need a guarantor. in FCT BOA they said if u run your account for 3 months and you have genuine farm and can convince them they will give u the loan. i dont know how much interest but im sure it is not more that 7%.

Guys, you can also check outt BOI CAP fund for agro processing. This one is 5%. interest ., butt for u to benefit u must come as a coooerative or group.
Re: Agriculture Grants Thread by FarmBaskit: 11:22am On Oct 27, 2014
"FarmBaskit" is a Nigerian brand owned by a group of four young fresh graduates; Alabi Olayinka, Dada Stephen, Agubaohia Henry and Adeyemo Adeola. It is an agro distribution company started in 2014 with the aim of developing the capacity of food distribution channel in Nigeria and Africa, revolutionize agriculture by blending the process with technology and modern mechanism, and also create more jobs by encouraging young people to go into farming in a more dynamic way.
The four friends who met on Dada Stephen's CEOS HUB, came together to brainstorm on how to get people to eat fresh foods from the farm which will enable better health condition and lifestyle of people in a way that will be unique and outstanding. This was how the idea of the incorporation of FarmBaskit Limited as a duly registered company which would have the legal right to operate in Nigeria came to life. The team immediately discovered a wide gap between the lifestyle of poor farmers and the rich market retailers, this motivated the company to come up with a strategy to enrich the farmers and make life easier for them.
Before now, farmers in remote rural areas always succumb to the challenge of bad road networks which makes it difficult for them to convey their harvests to the market. This gave room for exploitation from people who have access to the developed world, hence having to buy from them at ridiculous prices and sell at exorbitant rates in the cities.
The FarmBaskit team came up with www.farmbaskit.com as the world's first "strictly agricultural eCommerce website" where people can order for fresh farm products from the comfort of their homes and it gets delivered to their doorstep.
FarmBaskit hopes to be a house hold brand, not only in Nigeria but in the entire continent of Africa.
