I ran into a distant cousin of mine at the gas station some days ago and I was forced to ask why he was buying such large quantity of fuel because it is strange for a guy to think of buying 50 litre of petrol at a go, except he owns a viewing center or a beer parlor. Then he said it was for the church’s youth all night. Let me break it down, the youths were having an all-night on a Wednesday and it’s for the singles alone. Do you have an idea of what I am talking about? I mean an all-night for both guys and ladies who are still unmarried. So I have been asking this question, why would a group of people, say 30 guys and 30 gals, gather themselves in a church auditorium over the night to pray for a husband/wife when they can hook each other up. I mean why can’t they just pair up in 2s and stop disturbing God?

It’s the same case with guys and ladies who attend singles programs like the ones by Late Bimbo Odukoya, Pst chris Ojigbani and the likes. Guys and gals assemble in their hundreds and thousands to listen to marriage lectures and to pray for wife/husband without looking inward or giving a thought to the person they are standing/ sitting next to or the people they pass by every day in the hood. This can also be seen in offices, fellowships, compounds etc. Matured single men/women in the same block and domain refuse or let me say don’t consider the people they see every day for marriage but would rather look far into the sky anticipating that random person they keep praying would come from only God-knows-where.

Why is it so hard to allow God rest and look inward for a partner? Why is it so hard to listen to God and discover that what you are looking for in sokoto is in your sokoto (I mean looking far away for what is very close to you)?
