Dangote To Invest $12b In Nigerian Economy

The President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote has said he will invest $12bn in Nigeria’s economy.

This was contained in a statement felicitating with Muslims on the Sallah celebration. He expressed his firm belief in the Nigerian economy.

He said that of the $12b, $2.3 billion would be invested in sugar and rice production in Adamawa State to create about 180,000 jobs and combat terrorism in the North-East.

He said that the Nigerian atmosphere is good for business and that he wouldn't have invested in the country if he didn’t believe that.

While wishing all Muslims a spiritually rewarding festival, Dangote described the current situation in the country as a passing phase. He urged Nigerians not to allow themselves to be overwhelmed by despair but to be determined and courageous.

“It is high time Nigerians rededicated themselves and maintained the virtues, without which the country would continue to wander hopelessly, ” he added.

This news is old. Dangote has also said thru his DM of Dangote groups that they gave retracted their intentions of investing 12 billion in nigeria but would rather invention about 2 billion in Nigeria and then will invest an undisclosed amout into Tanzanian mining operations.

@OP. Don't be deceived. This guy wants to use us to make more wealth. Where has he being investing before. Is it not in the economy? Has he being investing in his bedroom? The benefit of the investment may never reach you. All you'll hear about it is news on TV

Out of over 40million jobseekers in naija, only 180,000 people would have jobs ..very funny..minimising cost, exploiting the labour market at the expense of the poor and making more gain. He even said naija economy is very good to invest in. Of course for the rich and for his kinda business. The Nigerian unequal economy has become such a fertile ground of investment for the rich that he's so confident about it. The rich are just getting richer.

He announced it like its good news. Only wise people would know he is concerned about his pocket more than any job he could create. Investing $12b and preparing to get over $50b in return. So funny
Ok what are you suggesting? He should be kicked out of Nigeria because he is making money out of the abundant resources our government refused to exploit? He is an investor for God sake not a philanthropist(Well he is actually philanthropic sometimes). Bill gates, Zuckerberg will definitely do the same thing. Who wouldn't be expecting profits in return?...Lol

Also i am surprise when you said "...only 180,000 people would have job". What! Don't we have a government in Nigeria again? It is now Dagote responsibility to create Jobs for Nigeria abi? 180,000 is a very huge figure if you ask me. Do you know Elizabeth Holmes? The youngest female billionaire founder of Theranos. Her company is worth a whopping $9bn but guess how many people she has created job for? 500! Yes i said it, just 500 and you called Dagote 180,000 job creation small? As if that is his responsibility... Lol

Most especially he should invest in science, if he indeed want any meaningful development for the good of all.

Great point. What I'd like to see Dangote do is implement a technological breakthrough in this country, perhaps by creating a train manufacturing factory. Or even a plane manufacturing outfit. Power is not an issue for him. He can build his own power plant. But of course one guy can't do it all. Some of the other 'Awon ogbologbo' should start using that cash stored abroad to fund some dramatic new projects here. That's the way to get noticed these days. Not how much you've parked in Europe.

Mad Man . . . . . diversify a little before you find yourself only a 'millionaire' agian!

And why waste money in the North?

Some of that doe needs to be put to use 'down south'.

No offence but what do you know about business and Dangote?
He is the most diversified billionaire. He's in almost every sector (oil nd gas, power, agriculture, aviation etc). Meanwhile many a times diversification is not really good for business especially when you are still trying to grow. Its always better to put all your egg in one basket, then guard the basket with your life. Henry Ford, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates all followed that procedure.
Aside, he's Africa's richest man and the richest black man, if that's the definition of madness for you, then I want to be one.
