Ladies do you also tie your tummy's to help get things back into shape?

~It's common practice back home to tie the tummy to get it back into shape after baby is born, not unheard of in my case but not a choice i prefered,i opted for the good ole fashion Situps . . got my tummy back into shape as flat & firm like i'd never evenĀ  given birth grin

First pregnancy was,

Had my baby at 35 weeks. Prior to dat time , I could throw up after taking water. Puked all the way thru till the morning of delivery.

Felt like eating 'AGEGE' bread while in labour pains.

Had only labour pains,--- no 'waters' breaking, no 'show'. They manually broke the waters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! embarassed

it was indeed an experience.

my boy is now 5+ years

I am 7 months preggers at the moment with my first and i must say this thread has really in a way made me prepare my mind for the inevitable IT WILL BE PAINFUL.I have resolved to psych myself by acknowledging that fact cos all those people that keep on saying 'its not as bad as they say' will just not prepare you for what is ahead,my mom included.

So all those breathing techniques dont work?My midwife just keeps on harping on and on about practising your breathing, aromatherapy yada yada, and yesterday even suggested hynotherapy, she was playing soft music and trying all those meditation things but even though i was not in labour it was not working,i was just thinking to myself how will some one in pain be meditating on rivers or mountains or generally nice things?Dis oyinbo people self undecided undecided

Couldn't help laughing after reading your post Damiso. I definitely did not remember what I learnt in antenatal class on the day; breathing technique and coping with the pains came naturally (with help from Gas & Air and Pethidine).

Congratulations and hopefully it won't be as PAINFUL as you are preparing yourself for but most importantly it goes well for you and baby. smiley

Hugs Busy Body tight. . . .awwwww.

Pregnant stages are the most delicate. Before you take any medication, even cold and cough medicine, talk to your pediatrician o.

As for the pad. . . .ehrrrrrm, I wouldnt know. I havent gone through that lane.

I just Googled it, I'm sure they sell it at walmart/walgreens/ or at your nearest pharmacy. . . .

my first pregnancy good up until the last 3 months. i was just getting bigger and bigger, i could hardly move. drank about 8 bottles oh big Eva bottled water, use the toilet every 20 minutes etc. i was later diagnosed of gestational diabetes, was admitted for about 2 weeks and was on insulin Thur out. it was really hell. eventually had a c.s at 8 months and my baby weight 4.7kg.
i really hope the second wont be like that. My baby is now 7 months and she is the most adorable thing you have ever seen.
C.S is not as bad as people make it sound. i am thankful i had it cos i don't think i would be able to go Thur the stress of labour and all. yes there is pain after all but with strong pain killers, i was up and about by the next day.and as for the scar. its not even visible.

my first preganacy was not planned so i was quite disraught wen i heard abt it.
Anyway,e don happen so i just went ahead wt it all.
I had apretty uneventful preganacy except for the vomiting.it was so horrible.
It was alway the feeling of nusaea that woke me up in the morning and sometimes i will throw up for up 4 times b4 going to work by 6 am.at point,it was like i wld vomit my intestines.
I remember one particular day on way to work in a public cab,i was throwing up so much that the cab driver stopped and asked me to go down.Anyway,i wasnt upset,i just was looking for a way of telling him to drop me off so that i will go to a corner and empty up.
On another occasion,i was sandwiched in btw two passengers wen the thing reared its ugly head.I prayed that cab will fly to my destination to avail.I tried my best to supress but couldnt. The vomit just filled my mouth and as i didnt want to the whole thing on my fellow passengers i quickly pushed it down my throat.yes,i swallowed my vomit.

As for the food craving,i neva cld stop eating roasted yam and african salad.Thank i was in naija so i had enof of that.at some point my mum was like ur baby is gonna be so strong at the rate u are swallowing that roasted yam.

in the last trimester,i had the kind of back pain that i didnt knew existed.my back ached so terribly,i couldnt sit,lie down or stand.i was always changing my postion.i walked and walked as i was told that will make things easy but baby refused to come out on the due date.i was 7 days over due and the doc said they will induce.
I protested but they insisted cos it was becoming dangerous for the baby, they said.

checked into the hospital at 8 pm on a monady.they gave so many drugs and equipments attached to my body, aww.
Each time i needed to use the bathroom, a nurse will come and push all those cupboard like some thing and of course the intravenous fluid watever wt me to the toilet.
it was like i was carrying a house.
at around 10 am in the morning the nurse compalined that i wasnt opening up.said i have only dilated 1 cm and that she will give anoda set of inducing medication and if nothing happens they will do CS.
she asked to give me pain medication but i refused.any way,she gave the drugs and that was wen i felt the real contraction.Ohhh,it was so painful.I cried, screamed, stood up,sat down, walked about to no avail.at this point, the doctor came and broke my water manually, hmm na palaver, i called the nurse to come and give the medication wc she did.I feel dizzy and asked her to lower the bed so i can sleep in btw contraction but
alas, the relief was so short.the contraction came again and i was shouting.the nurse kept telling me to calm down but i couldnt.i was screaming at the top of my voice
i called the nurse to come and give anoda dose opf pain medication but she said i cant have more of that so i had to suffer it.

at around 11.30 she checked and said i was open 4 cm.I asked how many more remained she said i had to open 10.My heart sank.i thought it might take a while for that to happen.Besides,my pain was so much that i coulnt just bear for much longer.after sometime she said i was open 10 cm and told me its time to push.
didnt really know wat to do but i did wat i knew.I asked if i am getting it right she said yes and encouraged me to kip on.
I gave 3- 4 more pushes and my girl made her debut into the world.the time was 1.07pm.
she weighed 8 lbs 12 oz.

my guy wasnt there.he had spent the night wt me at the hospital encouragiingme and all that but had to leave very early in the morning cos that was his 1st day on his 1st job in the US ,a job he has been seeking and praying for a long time

like most others,i had a big tear and the stitching was something else.cldnt sit for weeks and was scared to poo.i kept on passing foul smelling gas cos i wont poo.
In all honesty,i didnt feel anything wen i held my baby the first time, besides, the doctor was stitching me up and complained i was keeping myself in position for him.I had to give the baby to the nurse so that he can do that .
its been 7 months now and my girl has been such a joy and blessing to me.am so thankful to God

~Aaaw! Thank God for you & your family!I tell you what! Its a miracle in itself giving birth!

~I had similar experience w/ the vomitting during my First & second trimester. . .no incidents w/ me tho. . Thank God! The smell of of certain Foods was a real turnoff for me. . .an advert showing KFC chicken will have my gag reflex going not to talk of the smell. . however the spitting took the biscuit!!Tiswas the most depressing for me. . .walking around w/ scented bottles to spit in. .urghh!

~My Hubby missed my sons' birth too. . we've been holed up in hospital the whole day. . my contractions were sharp & fast but i was stuck on 2cm dilation. . .My waters have broken with thick Meconium ie {a green liquid}:in lay mans term,it means that the baby has had a bowel movement during labor & pooed in my tummy & it is a sign that the baby possibly is,or has been in distress, OR that the baby's gut is mature. Unfortunately it can be hard to tell which reason applies. . .whatever the case,if meconium is present,it is standard practice to be very cautious for if baby swallows the feces its not good!!

~That caused a whole lot of panic. . .Baby could up w/ Meconium Aspiration Syndrome !!SoOooo the immediate concern was to check if baby's heart rate is showing signs of distress!! In the blink of an eye there were doctors crowded in the room. . .machines strapped on my tummy to monitor baby's heartbeat. . .everytime the contraction came, the belt that was strapped on my tummy became tighter. . me twitching to bawl over didnt help either. . .caused the machine to misread baby's heartbeat. . .stirred another comotion w/ doctors coming in,reading the sheets. . .checking,re-checking

~I was still 2 cm dilated -I've been 2 cm since the day before when i checked in & was sent back home. . .In hindsight,i dont think there was immmediate danger otherwise they could have done a C-section,but my mind was doing all sorts. . .the contraction didnt help either!! I opted for Pethadine instead of the Gas & Mask,i had two shots of that when it seemed one wasnt helping & i was adamant i didnt want Epidural!!

~At about 12:30AM,finally 4 cm dilated, the nurses have given up on me actually having baby till the PM so they sent hubby home to get some shut eye bet they were tired of him wearing the floor out w/ his paces!!

~I gave birth some 20/30 mins later. . .they had to call him to come back. . .It was 12:57 on a Sunday!! He was 6lbs 6 oz. . .I didnt get a chance to hold him as they had to immediately check if he swallowed the poop! Thank God he hadnt!! I finally got to hold him & count all his fingers & toes. . .i didnt even mind his Cone head YET!! Had it moulded in no time. . He's going to be 8 in a 3 weeks! And i'm one proud Mama!!

Hey you can have home birth jare AND without any pain killers too. Dont mind all these ayinbo talk of epidurals. How did our grannies do it? I have had 4 kids without epidurals and survived it well too. Though if its a 1st, you may need a stitch or 2 for the expected episiotomy. If you can have an attending midwife with you at home, go ahead and have your baby at home.

The were careless at the health place you were using because by 24 weeks they should have suspected gestational diabetes and made you take the glucose test. This could have prevented a CS.

Thank God for safe delivery anyway.
