To many, when the statement "cold war" is mentioned what looms to their minds is an era where another brutal war was fought like the 1st and 2nd world war....Ironically, what was termed "cold war" was the communication/ideologies era between the eastern bloc and the western bloc. After the second world war underdeveloped countries were tryin to find their feet, hence ,the developed countries swung into action to sell their various ideologies to these under-developed countries so as to influence their ways of life......
The western bloc which consists of the USA,FRANCE,BRITAIN was really spear-headed by the US,they believe in the Capitalist system of govt. While the the eastern bloc spear-headed by the SOVIET believed in the Communist syste of govt...therefore, this brought about a war between these two blocs as to what system of govt should be adopted by the under-developed countries..
They both engaged in the use of radio broadcasts to sell their ideologies to these under-developed countries to the extent dat lines and cables are being destroyed to prevent rivals from effective broadcasts...
However, the western bloc was believed to have won the war because most countries adopted their system as against their counterpart.....Today it is obvious that most countries of the defunct USSR embracced the Capitalist system
