I think the turn out yesterday was test enough. Let other aspirants on the Apc pull their own crowd and ultimately the primaries should decide.
grin ..... You are better than using rally/campaign to adjudge election grin .... We know how crowd comes up in Rally/campaign now ..... The Election day and what those folks in rally will do while your eyes aint there is the koko and the result of election .... Not rally nor Nairaland's campaign !!

Can we have a situation in Britain that Tony Blair will return to contest for Presidency?
Hypnotised TANoid plonker, there is nothing like presidency in Britain.

Only in Nigeria do we have grannies running for president
Really? What do you think with?

Since Buhari declaration, I've been waiting for PDP to bring out corruption case against him, I've been been holding my breathe for someone else to tell us how compromise he was, I've waiting patiently for anyone to tell us how incompetent he was when entrusted with power.

The consensus so far is that he's is a man of integrity. He's competent. He's been tested and trusted. He knows what it takes to preside over a country. That's enough for me.

APC should do their part, we'll do the rest.

I stick strongly to my principle and I hope APC would do same .... Buhari's age is not my issue though majority of these old men think Nigerian President is a go for their age but it requires so much that even a youngman will be weak easily talkless a man above 70 that should be in his home playing with his GrandChildren while only discussing ''important strategies''!!

We blacks are just power drunk and find it difficult to let go thinking that w'out us it won't happen .... Millions of things could be achieved in the background than the mainstream !!!

If APC field my choice , they would have my vote !!
You have got to understand there will be primaries, there are younger/new aspirants, let the best man win the ticket. I won't begrudge a man for wanting to achieve a dream because of his age, its simply unfair. Please vote the Apc brother.

Primaries ? Naija style Primaries cheesy .... Oby , you know me better atleast my online Political arguments .... I'm for Nigeria and Nigerians !!! ....... We all supported APC during the merger and till date :

What baffles me is that how we know someone would fail and still field such fellow while keeping the winning teams behind because they aint Naija Political gladiators !!

We only field folks with names, money, fame and power that couldn't win election against a personality that would make GEJ to wanna even vote against himself cheesy

Iyalode, the point here is facing reality.

El-Rufai is not contesting as President, rather he has chosen to become the Governor of Kaduna State. Ribadu is out of the equation, the reality on the ground is that the election is going to be between PDP and APC, most likely Jonathan and Buhari. So will you pick Jonathan over Buhari if you must choose? Do you think Buhari is more clueless than Jonathan?

Abeg ask am.

I agree with some of your views even though am not sure Kwankaso or Wamakko can pull the numbers Buhari can pull especially in the North. My Uncle lives in Kaduna and he told me there is no politician with half of Buhari's influence especially in the core Norths. They just trust the man rightly or wrongly. The common saying in the North is that "All that Buhari needs to give me is his word and I can take it to the bank".

But the point is, in the event that Buhari gets the APC ticket ahead of Kwankaso or Wamakko, should we not support him knowing that failure not to do so means continuation of 'stealing is not corruption'?
You raise salient issues and I love 'em but despite Buhari's crowd in the north , have they been able to help the General to ascend the mantle ? ........ Did GEJ still not cart away Northern votes in 2011 (Let breathe off rigging) ... Truest vote couldn't be rigged example is Aregbe vs ''corn eater'' !!!

I don't discuss Politics outside internet but recently I went west for Sallah and Majority of Xtians folks I listened to have this Opinion regarding General that is somewhat Negative (Islamist/Jihadist, too principled, caused violence for GEJ as proclaimed in 2011) etc !! .... (Infact two of my mentors nearly fought one another ... Imagine both of 'em FCAs in their 60s ..one xtain(woman) the other muslim(man) ....... The man was reading to the mama ''who is afraid of Buhari'' and fight/argument broke out grin

Buhari is influential no doubt infact my abo:ki, also far from home, selling dry fish would give me jara if I tease him sai Buhari but :

Wouldn't it be better if the General anoint one of our young chaps and rally the whole Northern Crowd around such fellow like Kwankasiyya/Wammakko !! .... 2015 is a brighter Opportunity for APC due to the inabilities recorded by GEJ !!

May be its better maybe not for now, we can never say for sure until those candidates are tested with the electorates.

Buhari won the core North votes against GEJ in 2011. Many in the South bought the 'no shoe' story and felt Jonathan can easily identify with them until they found out he spends a billion Naira for feeding. I want to believe many are wiser now.

BTW, APC I think is better organised and have a wider spread compare to CPC under wish Buhari contested in 2011.

TKO!!!

soroptimist:

Come off this your sermonising about idealism and Buhari anointing a younger person that will not resonate with the masses who are the ones who vote

May i even ask you to suggest who this younger person should be...Tinubu tried pandering to the yearnings of the so-called youths in 2011 by propping up a useless Ribadu that some youths got fooled by in 2011 has traced his steps back to the same party he villified to no end

As it stands Fashola,Rochas Okorocha,Oshiomhole,Amaechi,Akinwunmi Adeshina,El Rufai,Donald Duke,Oby Ezekwesili and even Charles Soludo as smart as they all seem and are good materials can not command the kind of votes Buhari will get even if elections were tomorrow

Quit looking for someone who can speak the best English only.......Ibrahim Shekarau who you adjudged as being the best during the debates came 4th while a very clueless individual but with the billions then won

In politics, there are so many factors which are normally considered.......street credibility, popularity and one-time name recognition as it happened in Ekiti in the case of Ayo Fayose( as much as i loath his style) are what can bring in the votes

Wellsaid. what i keep hearing is he is too old, and so what? the so called young leaders we have had like bankole, how did they fair?
when asked to suggest alternatives, they give names that cant even individually command 100,000 votes in contrast to the general that delivered 12 million almost highhandedly.
we shouldnt deceive ourselves. if indeed we are tired of jonaadaft and desire his exit now considering the killer party rigging machinery, the only potential candidate that can acheive this for now is General Buhari.

Tribalism and religious trash apart,Buhari will surely perform by far better than this clueless figure head Jonathan Buhari will deal decisively with the monster of corruption in government circles and within the society at large Buhari will raise the standard of government accountability to the highest level The development of this potentially great nation will become obviously effective under Buhari By all standard,Buhari is miles ahead of this lame duck of a president called Jonathan Jonathan just accidentally found himself in a large ocean without being able to swim hence, the very experienced political racketeerers and manipulators exploited his naivity and ineptitude to unfortunately hijack his government for their self servicing purpose Bring in Buhari and see the huge wonders Nigeria will become

I hate it when people keep saying GEJ's administration is being distracted by opposition, that's a baseless excuse for a bad performance. It's just like a student telling his parents at home that he failed to make good grades in schools because most of his lecturers are saddists. If your sibblings give you the above reason for their failures in school will you take it??
The truth is nobody wants to know how you achieve success but they are ready to celebrate it with you. Let him deal with the oppositions in his cabinet looting billions in his name before pointing fingers to others.

Note:
Though i'm not a politician, but I was a very strong supporter of GEJ in 2011 with his "i had no shoes" trick he used on Nigerians but now i would rather not vote than voting Gej.

What i noticed is that politicians use their first tenure to work well and gather interest from people for a second term. On Gej's part, i don't see what he's doing to trigger peoples interest for a re-election come 2015. Abi na "i had no shoes" e wan come use again?
if his first term can be this worst then how will his second term be?

Only malpractice can bring Gej back to aso rock in 2015.

Note:
I'm not a fan of Buhari or any party, but I am a fan of GOOD GOVERNANCE.

Electing Buhari would be retrogressive, even with all of GEJ's failings I would not support an ageing man whose only claim to credibility is 'integrity' from way back in the early-mid 80's when probably half the Nigerians alive right now were not even born.

I don't really doubt his integrity, but clearly we need far more than just integrity at this moment. Buhari's utterances on violence in the North are not exactly palatable (albeit blown out of proportion by the PDP). Nonetheless he is not a suitable candidate - he is from a different era and should be mentoring younger candidates.

I think we can do much, much, better.

If a man could be just at a younger age when he had propensity to be materialistic and desirous of a secured future. Don't you think the probability of same looting public treasure at a much older age is next to nil?. Think about it.

I lyk ur write up OAM4J very educative, looks very unbias wit a slight touch of abusive word but dat can be pardoned.

I am a fan of Jonathan not a fan of PDP, Howeva my loyalty is to Nigeria not a person (not even Jonathan).

In as much as ur write up is sound, I will want to criticise/ shed light on sum statement: it may be be tru dat weneva buhari's name is mentioned as a candidate 4 apc, jonathans supportaers ar quick to advise d apc to field a better candidate, u will agree wit me dat same is also said wen d name of atiku is also mentioned.

My point is: most pple wants nigeria to get better n irrespective of political party, d best candidate is who d masses will support, n 4 now, d masses tink n knw GEJ is better, on a level ground, if an unknown party fields a person such as madam oby n she get enough publicity, I bet majority of nigerians will vote 4 her (if d election isn't rigged). It goes a long way to tell u dat we ar all patriots but we av different views on hu will take us to d promise land.

Nigerians ar seeing n I can assure u, we knw GEJ, Buhari, Atiku, kwankwaso, Ameachi n d likes ar not d best 4 nigeria but among all des, Janathan is better till we av any party fieldin d lyks of Oby, fashola, Oshiomole, akpabio, Ribadu.

Tank u.

Buhari is too old to be realistically considering the presidency. We've been there and done that with the 'he was a good military president' experiment - see Obasanjo.

I am not impressed one bit by the messianic qualities some of you attribute to him - he will be able to 'face' the cabals eh? You think this is the 1980s under a military government where you can summarily lock up anyone you don't like? If Buhari is so great why has he - 30 years after leaving office - been unable to raise up a protege? Why is it all about his individual qualities?

I repeat - we can do much, much better. The fact that Buhari got 12m votes in 2011 is not even close to sufficient reason to choose him if your aim is to defeat Goodluck. Those votes were largely religious/tribal based - what is appealing about that to the rest of the country?

GEJ - warts and all, was a change from what we had previously in ex-military presidents/their family members. He has failed in my view, but that is no reason to resort to an 80 year old man who has woefully lost each and every election he has contested in, his integrity credentials not withstanding.

I don't want to live like it's 1985 in 2015 - do you?

You guys are so childish and gullible it is laughable.
PDP will bring out corruption against him because there are no better ways to engage the General on the LIES that he told in the absence of any concrete plans for Nigerians
That is Thief'nubu's playbook - bring out corruption case against his political enemies and get kangaroo court to pronounce him guilty.
