asandigbo: Look, we've never been under any illusions about our problems, or tried to 'form' we are something we're not. Ghana on the other hand have made it their duty to shout to the world how near perfect their country supposedly is (especially compared to Nigeria). How everything works. How there is little or no corruption etc etc. So you can understand why many Nigerians look upon Ghana's current travails with a degree of amusement. 4 Likes |

ROSSIKE: Bullcrap, the only thing Ghanaians have been doing on this site is defending Ghana and Ghanaians. Nigerians on Nairalnad pastime is is to ridicule Ghana. From their always favorite Ghanaians are black, Ghana is pop of lagos and the whole of Ghana is poor. Nigerians own Ghana's economy and Ghanaians hate them because nigerians have swag, smart, rich and nigerians are taking all Ghanaian women. We only defend and only attack when we are attack which is everyday, 7 days a week. 1 Like |

asandigbo: Don't mind him, both Ghanaians and Nigerians come at each other. Just do a quick Ghana search on nairaland and you will find out that both parties are guilty but Ghana is mostly on defense. 1 Like |

ROSSIKE: Really? Could have fooled us. You "form" what we're not just about everyday on this forum. I see you abandon your fake Afrocentrism when it suits you to have immature digs at Ghana - a country I vividly remember you trying to paint as a rising star of Africa when the argument suited you in the past. So it's funny to see the schadenfreude glorying in their reported downturn. And I've seen Ghanians here do little beyond trying to defend themselves from insecure attack dog Nigerians on here who are obsessed with them. A very weird obsession. 2 Likes |

londoner: Go to Ghanaweb and other Ghanaian websites and you will notice that Ghanaians are Ghana's harshest critics. On this site however we don't get a chance because we are busy defending our dear country from the many critics from Nigeria. On this website a great comment from a nigerian will just turn to a Ghana bashing thread. So, I don't know what part of rossike assessment is right. Do |

Re: Ghana In Darkness As Energy Crises Worsen by londoner: 1:17am On Oct 17, 2014 |
JiggamanGh: Jigga, are you honestly trying to tell me, that you don't see how Nigerian on this site are Nigeria's harshest critics? I mean come on.....lol I used to visit Ghanaweb, just as much a I did Nairaland. I had to stop, simply because of the level of negativity towards Nigerians. It could be anything, even a positive story, or something as small as a relationship between a Ghanaian and Nigerian or something unconnected with Nigerians.......it did not matter what, it was almost instantly an insult fest, heaped on Nigeria and Nigerians. It was rare to find one or two standing up for Nigeria among the GH posters there. At least quite a few Nigerian posters, stand up or defend Ghanaians here on NL. If posters are out of line here, they are told so. I don't have fond memories of Ghanaweb, at all, so please do not direct me there. 3 Likes |

londoner: True nigerians are their own harshest critics, Even at that Ghanaians are still blame for it. On nairaland Ghanaians are accuse for anything negative said about Nigeria even if the culprit is Nigerian, so they can say their ever so famous line " Ghanaians hate us" I for one have attack nigeria and Nigerians a lot but I have also defended Nigeria and I called out some of my brothers if they are out of line. True Nigerians are treated unfairly sometimes on Ghanaweb but to say no one defended nigeria is not true. I have seen numerous times when Ghanaians have defended Nigerians. Like I said on Nairalnad Ghanaians do more defending than attacking and perhaps on Ghanaweb Nigerians defend more than attack. We are both guilty, but since we are speaking of nairaland, Ghanaians though not completely innocent are in the right for defending their country any means necessary. |
Re: Ghana In Darkness As Energy Crises Worsen by londoner: 1:47am On Oct 17, 2014 |
JiggamanGh: Really? Well then Nigerians, although not completely innocent are in the right for defending their country any means necessary (especially on a Nigeria centred site). At least we agree on something. |
Re: Ghana In Darkness As Energy Crises Worsen by JiggamanGh: 1:56am On Oct 17, 2014 |
londoner: Yes nigerians have every right to defend their country but can't start the war and say you have the right to defend yourself. Most threads about Ghana are started by Nigerians. There is only one Ghanaian that usually start threads about nigerians. Like I said do a quick search on the word Ghana. And you will find over 20 topics that started this week alone and 99% of them are negative. Apart from Nigeria, Ghana has the most topics on this website. The positive ones will turn negative before it turn one page. You can't invite someone into your home and shoot them in the back and turn around and yell self defense. By the way what happened to non confrontational Londoner. You have really become confrontational these days. You are becoming more nigerian each day. Very aggressive lol |

from Turkish Firm Karadeniz Energy Group In the midst of chronic power shortages it was recently announced by the Ghana Ministry of Energy that it had entered into a contract with a Turkish firm, Karadeniz Energy Group to rent two floating power plants to produce 450MW of electricity for the national nation’s electricity grid. The 10 year contract is eventually going to cost the Ghanaian Government and tax payers an amount of $1.2 Billion Dollars by the end of the contract but this international financial transaction has not been debated or approved by the Ghanaian Parliament. Yes indeed ship mounted power plants, designed and tailor made are an ideal solution for a quick resolution of the power generation needs of a country like ours, which has been in constant energy and power generation distress for years. However some have argued whether this deal with this Turkish Karadeniz company really gives Ghana Value for money, In the light of recent revelations that a similar generation plants have been built and supplied to other countries, like the Dominica Republic, Jamaica and Papua New Guinea at much much relatively less costs. These countries have also signed maintenance contracts with the plant builder Wartsila of Finland and owned the power plants outright in perpetuity. This lack of transparency in the contract has led to a lot of speculations, and may be half -truths in the Ghanaian press and citizens forums, because $1.2 Billion Dollars is a huge amount of money for a nation to spend on these Karadeniz power generation ships, which Ghana will eventually never come to own at the end of the 10 year Contract. Though Ghana has provided a sovereign guarantee and made some down payments for these ships to be constructed in Turkey, at the end of the 10 year contract period, according to documents of the Karadeniz Energy Group, the ships will sail away and be redeployed elsewhere. This does not make business sense to me especially given the fact that Finnish Company Wartsila last year built and delivered two power plants with a combined generation capacity of 430 MW to the Dominican Republic in the Carribean Sea costing Euro 300 million Euros. http://www.4-traders.com/WARTSILA-B-1412489/news/Wartsila-B--Wartsila-receives-EUR-150-million-power-plant-order-from-Dominican-Republic-13948209/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4z2lJx_kjjI Yes we need to find sustainable solutions to our energy crisis, but the question is why is the Ghana Government Contract with Karadeniz so much grossly expensive than the prevailing market rates for design, build and procurement of floating power generation ships? The other question now is what are the terms of this contract and is it fair to the Ghanaian tax payer? Has our Government made a prudent decision? If so why the Ghana Parliament is not involved in this international transaction and interrogating the terms of this contract before approval is given? Isn't this d same ghana that wants to export electricity to nigeria and other countries? Yet they don't have their own power generation capacity. They shud clean the dirt in their eyes first before trying to clean the one in another person's |

Just look @ the article above the Guy before me Ghana wants to pay back $1.2 billion fund used to setup a new power plant for 10 years. Nigeria can easily put that as part of its budget. Ghana has a relatively stable democracy than Nigeria but cannot be compared to Nigeria, just too small to be compared to Nigeria. |
