DRealGeesam:

I dont sell solar equipments but here is a breakdown of current market price in Nigeria as u requested.

*110w solar panel=N17,000 (if you are going for cheap nigerian/chinese make) 27,000-35000 for more standard products

*2kva inverter:
There are 2 types
24v input costs N25,000(cheap chinese of cos, more reliable inverters costs 40,000 and above for 2kva)

12v input costs 45,000 apprx

There are 2types of charge controllers PWM and MPPT. Mppt has double the efficiency of pwm and costs double too.
There are several Amps ratings for charge controllers too.

Eg 20amps for pwm would cost about N7,000 (cheap) 15,000+ (standard)

It all depends on the brand you go for.

Hope this helps
tanx very much for d info.I would prefer d Chinese due to scarce resources, but pls are dere no good Chinese products.and pls hw about our deep cycle battery

Thanks for this wonderful insights and more thanks to @DRealGeesam for the invitation.

A question for you and DRealGeesam.

Looking at the country, we have various formations like rain forest in the south, savanna in the middle belt and desert in the north. What type would you recommend for each of these areas and why.
Thank you for taking time to read through my post.
_
But you see, soil structure and formation is way different from climatic belts and regions.
_
1. Take Abeokuta for example which falls within the rain forest region. almost the whole areas in that state and environs have a rocky formation.
2. In a state like Bayelsa, one would say it is a riverine state therefore water bed depth should be within a few meters into the ground. But a big suprise awaits such a person as he would encounter different bits of stone at few meters in interval before he could reach a depth of 20meters.
_
What drillers do when we find ourselves in unfamiliar terrain is to conduct a geological survey which gives us an idea of the soil structure nd texture and also an idea of what to encounter under the ground along our drill path.
_
Armed with this important geological information, we can be able to decide which of the equipments out of the three (Motorised rig, tripod drill or seismic drill) is most suitable for use in a given terrain.

I know you want to know the average cost. There is no fixed price. But on average it costs about 350,000-450,000 for 45meters. You can only get a specific price after survey has been carried out.

THank you sir

Ok
There are lots of reliable chinese inverters so far you take care to use them at about half their capacities, u wont have problems.
For deep cycle batteries, the price depends on brand and capacity
100ah cost about 19,000-25,000
200ah costs about 47,000- 55,000

All the best sir

DRealGeesam:

Most water bearing aquifers occur where there is abundant rainfall. Not because the rains feed the aquifers directly, but because the saturation of such aquifers have been preserved in such areas over time, unlike in arid region.
What will really determine the choice of drilling technique to use. Are 4 things
1. Depth of water bearing factures

2. Nature of the rock basement

3. Time; how quickly you want it drilled.

4. Environmental considerations. Such as easy accessibility of the drilling rig, noise etc

Practically manual drilling is more practical in the rainforest regions of nigeria, especially in places in valleys. Not that if you are on top of a hill, you will most likely drill much more deeper than someone in the valley.
So some places with low elevation relative to sea level even in northern Nigeria can benefit from manual drilling.

But motorized drilling will bore through any type of rock and it is very fast.

Hope this helps

Thanks.

Assuming drilling has be done (I have said so much on drilling already so that is dealt with.

TANK STAND
Our project will support a 3000 liter tank.

Materials needed
For foundation (assuming we are using 2foot square foundation for a good solid ground)

*12 headpans of sharp sand
*8head pans of 3/4inch gravel
*2 bags of cement
Re: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by DRealGeesam(m): 6:01pm On Oct 23, 2014
Materials Needed for the steel structure
*2 18feet 6inch diameter 4mm thick steel pipe
* 4 4x2 U channels
* 4 2" 4mm thick angle bars
*1 4x2 H beam
*4 1/2 angle bar

Cut 20mm rib bar into 24 pieces 1 foot each
Re: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by DRealGeesam(m): 6:13pm On Oct 23, 2014
You will need 4 pieces of 2 foot cuts of 6 inch diameter steel pipes.
You will be welding 6 pieces of the 1foot cut rib bar as mentioned previously.

This will go into the concrete, making the section below ground level.

Cut each 18foot long steel pipes into 2 each making. Each piece will make a leg for the structure. You shld weld this piece to the 2 feet pipe that is in the concrete when the concrete is well cast. This shld take at least 5 days.

NOTE this method is different from the one i illustrated in the previous page it is very simple and less technical.

When attaching the 9foot pipe to the foundation, pleas make sure you use a plum, and ensure your they are perfectly vertical all round

Re: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by DRealGeesam(m): 6:22pm On Oct 23, 2014
Now u shld have something like this
4 steel pipes standing perfectly vertical

They shld be 6 foot apart

Re: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by DRealGeesam(m): 6:39pm On Oct 23, 2014
I would have used a 3d software to explain, but freehand sketch is faster for me.

Next you cut you 4x2 Hbeam into 2
And you weld them across like this.

Re: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by DRealGeesam(m): 6:47pm On Oct 23, 2014
Next cut the Uchannels into 6 foot pieces.
This will go across the Hbeams, space them evenly.
Next cover the top with sheet metal at least 2mm thick.

Next do the bracing. Cut the 2x2 angle bars into 2 each and weld 2 on each side forming a sort of X shape on the 4 sides.

Next use the 1/2 inch angle bar to make the railings for the top and the side ladder.

Clean the structure using sand paper.

Paint using iron oxide or zinc oxide (i have explained this before)

Let the plumber do his work

And you are through.

Truth is just get a welder to do it all for you.

All the best

Re: Solar Power & Boreholes Jobs (FULL Pictures) Ask ANY questions NO SECRETS by DRealGeesam(m): 7:00pm On Oct 23, 2014
How do you power your home with solar energy?

How many panels do you need

What type of inverter do you need

What type of charge controller

How long will it last

How much power can it deliver

How long can it power my appliances a day?

In the above updates; seems pipes were used instead of H-Beams as the stands?
would that be stronger as H-beams and will it last as long as H beams?
On Solar-
- are special; dedicated wiring really required for the various appliances?
- can solar; phcn & gen be used same house?- if yes how many change over boxes is that?
Reason for above is I envisaged with prepaid meters it will no longer be economical to use phcn to charge inverters so solar will come handy
I will reserve other questions until you answer the intro questions you raised in post 118
thanks a lot sir

*it would last of course. The important rules have been highlighted in previous posts.

*A building and use PHCN, Wind energy, solar power, generator all together.

For just solar power and generator, one change over switch is enough

Yes it MAKES NO ECONOMICAL SENSE using phcn to charge your batteries. Solar is a better option.
