Is Gov. Ajimobi's Scholarship A Scam? by Oyecute(m): 7:04am On Oct 21, 2014
After 12months of application, the expectation for Oyo state scholarship is making the heart sick. A reasonable portion of the student population (indigene) applied for 2012/2013 scholarship even though almost all schools in Nigeria are in 2013/2014 session. Amounts ranging from #500 to #1500 for Undergraduate and Postgraduate respectively was collected as application fee for this belated scholarship and no sign of the disbursement forthcoming even after twelve good months. .

The much revered Governor has shown no indicative sign that the said scholarship would be paid to the indigent students as it was meant for. Mr Gov has even succeeded in using the scholarship to reinforce his campaign strategy and already appearing on some major electronic advert boards within the capital city. My hope is that the Governor would not repeat the same mistake of embezzling students money just as it was done in the time past.

Since Gov. Ajimobi has started lauching and commissioning new projects as a means to his re-election, we hope he will achieve the same feat in the educational projects. One begins to wonder why politics still rear its ugly head whenever any government is to better the lots of the masses and even quite painful when it comes from a governor that boasts of his academic qualifications and enlightenment. Although it is understandable that bursaries and scholarships are privileges and not rights in our own environment but it should not be after stipend has been raked from the students' purse.

It is very appalling with the way this administration treat some fragile issues and capitalise on propaganda to deceive the masses. Even if he feels he has a better chance of winning in the next election without paying the money, Mr. Gomina should remember it will cast a thick shadow on his personality and administartion if at all he reneges on his promise.

On a lighter mood; Gomina Isiaka Ajimobi !!! Owo te s'adehun re nko? E jowo e tete san ki e ma ba gba epe lowo awon omo ile-iwe. Abo oro la so fun omoluabi . . .
