Ekiti Govt Laments Rejection Of Unad Graduates By Banks

THE Ekiti State govern ment has revealed that majority of graduates from the University of Ado-Ekiti (UNAD) are being turned down by some banks across the country due to inability to pass the aptitude tests conducted by the financial institutions.







The state Commissioner for Education and Technology, Mrs. Abiola Ayimonche, who made this known in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday at an award ceremony organized by the Federation of Ekiti State Students’ Union (FESSU), however, disclosed that the state government was radically repositioning the institution to curtail the ugly development.

Among those honoured at the ceremony was the chairman, Correspondents’ Chapel of the Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mallam Yaquob Popoola, who was given the “Journalist of the Year” award.

Expressing confidence in the ability of the present administration in the state to redress the situation and put the institution in the right shape in terms of quality graduates, Ayinmonche stressed that the university was capable of producing the best graduates in the country.

She said that her belief was predicated on the fact that the state, as “Fountain of Knowledge”, had produced quite an appreciable number of good and valuable human resources as quality lecturers in many of the higher institutions of learning in the country.

"The university, according to our expectation, should be the best in the country. It seems as if this hope is been dashed by the activities of some people. But I am quite sure that the situation will change for better.

"What really pained me was the way some banks had been rejecting the graduates of the university due to poor performances. it even got to a stage that the governor himself had to send about 20 graduates of the university for aptitude test and none of them passed,'' she said.

Speaking on Ekiti Government and Students Siamese Twins in the Development of Education in the state, Prof Ade Ogunsanya of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, said that the only way the state could rejuvenate the education sector was by carrying the students along and giving them the needed support at all times.

The governor obviously sent the names of his political thugs, how could they ve passed. Go to the best organisations in the country, u see UNAD graduates working in them.

P.S Am not a graduate of UNAD.

I think that its pathetic that Banks respect foreign degrees, than Nigerian uni degrees.

If I take fake foreign degree to a bank, i'd be more likely to be hired than someone who has a real degree from a Nigerian uni. Plus I should also add, that it also questions the entire Nigerian educational system whereby people pass through bribery and corruption.

I should also state that I recently tutored this babe from London. Her english grammar was GBOSA, slang was reflected all over her academic paper, it was soo sad that I had to tell her parents and couldn't stop laughing. Only god knows what they're teaching them over there in London. I thot they spoke "queens English"

Most Schools has their dumb ass heads.

My first degree is from UNAD and I worked with some top finacial institutions before leaving Nigeria. . . the last being PHB and my class mate then works at PHB still in P/H.

Despite the fact that I have left Nigeria, I still monitor some some activities concerning product performance for a particular outfit.

Am not trying to blow any trumpet here, . . . I just wanna erase wrong submission made by one "commissioner"

Only in Ekiti. We use Macleans in Osun.

Why are people getting so worked up with this kind of sad news emanating from nigeria? Have we been expecting much or are we unto our usual game of denial?
As mush as i know that UNAD students and graduates are usually known for their poor academic outing and standards, i do not see much gap between them and their counterparts from OSUTECH, ESUT, FUTA, UNILAG, UDU and lately UNN. The dull headed "awoof" ones in privately owned university are another big failed story for another day.

Osun state has the highest number of higher institutions numbering about 30 or so, but the products of these empty schools is more or less like the products of UNAD; no energy, focus, quality and passion. What a waste!!!

The condition of the nigerian educational system is simply bewildering.

Those who have been able to strike it through these "high schools" called universities like UNAD were able to achieve that through self taught, determination and those who are naturally brilliant.
Nigerian educational system does not have room for those who does not belong to the above listed categories.  No room for the averages, even worst for dumbies which majority of nigerians happen to be. Unfortunately, the nigerian dumbies are not natural; it has more to do with the system. Imagine a student knowing he/she was billed to fail because he cannot "sort" the lecturers, even if the said student actually does his homework well.
Do not even talk about the environment.

You want to bring more problems and burden to Osun state? imagine importing juju, fountain of olodo, poverty and karmamod into Osun state. You want to draw us back into the 19th century?


Let us merge them with Kwara or Ondo and demand a visa from them before they visit any part of osun.
