What Is The Image Of Nigeria In Your Location. by okzcorp: 9:54pm On Oct 31, 2014 |
First topic: As a Nigerian and very hopeful that someday the current trend in the country will get better (chronic optimism). To the Point: The image of Nigeria even in nigeria is tearful. We have been ravaged by high spate of corruption, gross misconduct by our leaders and cultural decadence. I saw a movie, Stretch (2014) and Nigeria was mentioned for Money Laundering related crime. I shared this with a friend, who told me that he had seen several movies where Nigeria was associated with crime. I am not proud of this as a concerned Nigerian neither am I proud of the actions of our youths in countries like Malaysia, SA, Italy, etc? The aim of this topic is to enlighten fellow Nigerians about the image of Nigeria in different countries and locations across the globe. Let us know how a Nigerian entrant into your country of abode will be perceived and what he needs to know and do to settle quickly. 1 Like |

Once the air manifest shows that there are people carrying that green passport, there will surely be policemen, anti drug squad, anti terrorists and anti money- laundering squad waiting to give you a special welcome. This special welcome is denied other nationalities. 1 Like |

oduastates: Special Indeed. But from what country experience are you talking from? Have you witnessed it or heard someone who had? I really wanna know what Nigerians pass through, both good or bad. |

okzcorp: I currently live in Europe and here the "nigerian email scammers" have raised a lot of attention.. now naturally boko haram comes to some people's mind and of course ebola. the news media don't cover stories about something being normal or just fine, so of course most stories are negative, sadly. However it's not a totally negative view people have. They know every country has good n bad in it |

semioyin: So what do they think about an average nigerian? I know they will try to be fair and just in dealing with anyone. |

okzcorp: Oh yes, im sure the most people will be just and friendly. Nigerians don't have a bad image so I don't reckon it will be an issue for the average citizen, however everyone is different and I might be a bit biased lol |

okzcorp: Yeah but most people after getting to know someone forget all about the image they have of the country. But please remember this is just my personal view, it may be different for someone else |

Here in America or at least where I live, they see us as kind and smart, opposite of Black Americans. Whenever I mention I'm a Nigerian, they say that's the reason I don't act like the typical ghetto black person. These are from Caucasians no less |

fanficgirl: Cant say I'm suprised, I have seen numerous posts/comments about Africans vs african-americans, unfortunately with a lot of negativity. |

I stay in Nigeria, Onitsha precisely and perceive Nigerians as cool but it's leaders as the most corrupt in the world. |

okzcorp: Although some countries go way over board in tackling the Nigerians, Nigerians deserve the special treatment though. Just because we have ruined our country unchallenged, we imagine and even try to ruin other peoples countries. Only to receive the shock of our lives! Nigerian unruly behavior WILL NOT BE TOLERATED HERE. |
