My Advise To Ihedioha On Tambuwal by Nobody: 10:59pm On Nov 01, 2014
Once again Nigeria is at cross roads and the crisis we are facing right now is simply man made and it has resulted from Mr Aminu Waziri Tambuwal's stubborn refusal to do the right thing, take responsibility for his choices and resign from office.

But after further thought on the Tambuwal issue and eventhough the correct thing would be for Ihedioha to call back the house and discuss this man-made crisis created by Tambuwal it may not necessarily be the wise thing to do.

Nigeria has an unfortunate polity; our ethnic and religious make up makes it practically impossible sometimes for common sense to prevail. The correct thing to do is not always the wise or pragmatic thing to do.

While Yar'adua laid on death bed in Saudi Arabia, the correct thing was for Jonathan to step forward and take responsibility for Government but because of our ethnic/religious divisions it is questionable whether it was the wise thing to do. At the time I was frustrated at Jonathan's slowness but in hindsight perhaps Jonathan's reluctance was probaly strategic and gave no room for anyone to accuse him of being lawless and trying to displace the President thereby giving a dog a bad name to hang it.

David Mark's leadership at the time was also very strategic in that he waited for the situation to come to a head before inventing an extra constitutional "doctrine of nessecity" which everybody bought into because the situation had lingered for so long and the forces of darkness had no other defence.

This moment calls for Ihedioha to be wise. The wise thing to do may not necessarily be the correct thing to do. But for his sake and the sake of Nigeria; Ihedioha should sit back, do nothing and allow our institution to self correct!

December is only a matter of weeks away, February which is the election time is also weeks away! so lets not continue this crazy dance Tambuwal is trying to drag everyone into. If Tambuwal wants to preside over the house as Minority Speaker in December then Ihedioha should not stand in Tambuwal's way. It will go in Tambuwal's record all the attempt to circumvent the constitution and bend the rules.

It might take longer than we will all like but in time the courts will throw Tambuwal out of office!

Ihedioha can grant a Press confrence making the following clear:

1. Pledging his loyalty to the PDP and the Government of Jonathan goodluck.
2. Stating his respect for the constitution and his appreciation of section 68 (1)g of the constitution which he believes will resolve the crisis in due course but let the courts decide
3. Remind everyone of his right to associate with all Nigerians including Tambuwal and Jonathan.

In time the Tambuwal side show will be resolved!

This is political amateurishness you are displaying here.
What you are suggesting for Ihedioha is political suicide. Some people think Jonathan is the only politician in Nigeria. Please be realistic.
I want to remind you of what Abubakar Rimi said on June 12, ...'i am not in politics because of MKO Abiola''. So many people on the street don't think deep and understand Nigerian politicians. Self interest is everything. It pays Amaechi who needs national exposure to rubbish Jonathan as it will pay Inedioha to think about his national political career in all he is doing, this involves keeping relationships and not burning bridges. The Hoise of Reps in particular is one tricky body, something has been brewing there.
Jonathan has at most 4 more years if he wins the next elections. What happens to other politicians from Eastern Nigeria after that?, you think Rochas Okorocha is an idiot?. If I am a politician in my late forties or early fifties would I burn bridges with the north and west because of one man who is leaving office in four years?. How did Jonathan become consensus candidate of the PDP?..Was it out of love and affection or a business negotiation giving all incumbent governors a second term and all 2-term governors a seat in the senate or ministerial appointment?
Why don't you realise yet that that the House of Reps is a movement that will develop into a new party that will be built on the carcass of the current PDP and ultimately APC. People are mapping themselves into relevance at the national level and positioning themselves long term and you are thinking only about GEJ.

I think Ihedioha should go with the majority tendency of the house, there might be a lot of cross carpeting before December so it is hard to define what majority is for now.
Abeg park well.

4 years is a very very long time in politics

Whether anyone likes it or not Jonathan Goodluck will shape the future of Nigeria

Tambuwal will soon go missing like Ghali Na'aba and Bello Masari

Tambuwal seems to have the upper hand:
If Emeka Ihedioha tries to reconvene the house it may backfire in several ways:
1) PDP doesn't have the required numbers to commence an impeachment process
2) GEJ will soon be presenting 2015 budget to the joint house, If Ihedioha forcefully takes over the house, a court may later fault his procedure and all the his actions will be declared null and void which means the Government may shut down as from April which is the max nr of months they can go without a budget.
3) Its easier to remove Ihedioha than to remove Tambuwal coz there is already a feeling that the Senate is headed by Christians so if Ihedioha tries to remove Tambuwal he may just end up getting himself impeached.

I have this feeling that in the next few weeks we shall be having several decampees from PDP to several other parties when they lose their primaries (Including Ihedioha) and the power balance in the house will truly change... Ruff times ahead for team GEJ.

The only way GEJ can remove Tambuwal is to promise an automatic return ticket to all the PDP reps and dangle some carrot to APC reps.. (but may end up losing some Governors who already have their list)

Nwanne m, you may be the one who needs to park well. So if the cross carpeting you mentioned results to a "majority tendency" which leans towards APC, Ihedioha should go with that ko? This does not make any sense and will be the fastest way to political suicide for him.

In this rare moment, mikeansy may have a great point of view. lipsrsealed
