Now this got me pondering. I have always had the notion that once one goes to mecca and returns, he/she is called Alhaji or Alhajia respectively. Now what I wanna clerify is this.... Is it because of the golden/silver tooth affix for the individual that they're called such? Or what's the real reason why one is called an Alhaji or Alhaja..

As long as u've travelled to Mecca and fulfilled the rights of hajj, you've become an Alhaji/Alhaja, whether you fixed the shiny tooth or not
