Real Solution To Poverty(brainstorming) by Emeth: 11:42pm On Nov 03, 2014
This short piece doesn't provide a holistic methodology to solving the issue of poverty. This is just the outcome of a brainstorm i had some months ago. Just recently stumbled upon and opted to post it here with the hope of getting some meaningful inputs.

SHORT TERM TARGETS:
Deal with immediate needs of the poor (financial aid)
Provision of jobs where they will be paid a stipend (monthly or daily), and they will get to understudy a proven individual.

FAILED METHODS:
Just providing financial aids to sort out immediate needs.
Just providing skills (teaching them new skills) and sending them off.
Giving the startup capital, and leaving them on their own.

The above listed methods only yield short term gains. But in the long term, they won’t result in any significant change in the current state of the individuals concerned. At best, they will only fare a little better.
Giving startup capital to people who have no idea of how to manage a business produces little or no significant gain.
Peradventure, the individuals concerned do have skills and even know how to run a business. They would probably expend their profits and even their profits on immediate needs. Thus ending up, back at square one.

Point to ponder: most new businesses die off in their first 5years!

A NEW APPROACH IS REQUIRED/NEEDED:

NGO’S tackle this problem linearly.

This is all good and provides in the short term and produces immediate gains, but very limited in long run. Human population grows exponentially thus meaning that the population growth of people below the poverty line, follows an exponential model.
A method that tackles this issue exponentially is needed!

Tackling the problem with a method that produces results that fit into an exponential function, simply means that the chosen method must be such that it would have a (positive) domino effect.
That is, impacting on individuals who will in turn have a positive impact on others
Current approaches aim to produce (only) self-sustenance!
