The presidency has described the national leader of
the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola
Tinubu, and others as anarchists for calling on
President Goodluck Jonathan to resign for his
administration’s inability to contain the activities of
the Boko Haram.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the
President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said the suggestion by Tinubu that Jonathan should resign had again shown beyond doubt that the former Lagos State governor and his colleagues in the opposition were a bunch of political anarchists and charlatans blinded by an unbridled appetite for power.

The presidential aide said the assertion by Tinubu at a political rally in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday that “in civilised” societies, the president should have resigned was unfounded and lacking in historical precedence.

According to him, “We challenge him to tell Nigerians which part of his ‘civilised’ world has there been a call on a president to resign during an ongoing war.
“When terrorists attacked the United States of
America in September, 2001, leaders of the
Democratic Party did not demand a resignation of
President George Bush rather they rose in defence of the American nation to support the various measures taken by the president to defeat the al Qaeda terrorists.
“It is perhaps necessary to remind the APC leader
that it was leading members of his party who
vehemently opposed and openly criticised the
proscription of the Boko Haram sect by the federal
government in 2013 with some of them even going
as far as describing it as a move against the North
while others tried to incite the civil society to
condemn this anti-terrorists Act.”

Okupe therefore said it was unfortunate that the APC, in its desperation for power and eagerness to make selfish political gains from insecurity, has shown a total lack of the spirit of nationalism and
statesmanship in its public comments on the
challenges of insurgency in the North-east.
He said: “It is particularly sad that leaders of the APC would mount every available podium to pour
invectives on the president and ridicule members of
the armed forces of Nigeria who are in the battlefield of the war against terror in the North-east of this country.

“Telling the president to resign because of an
ongoing insurgency is the height of insensitive,
indecorous and bad politics which ought to be
roundly condemned by every patriotic Nigerian.
“We wish to remind the likes of Tinubu that by the
provisions of the Nigerian constitution, the only
recognised means of changing a government is
through the electoral process which comes every four years.
“If the APC leader has a problem about the chances
of his political party winning an election, as he
obviously does, he should not resort to brigandage,
rather we will advise that they go back to the
drawing board to rewrite their lack-luster, ill-defined
and uninspiring manifestoes and see if they can sell
it to the Nigeria public side by side with the well-
articulated, dutifully executed and widely acclaimed
transformation agenda of President Jonathan.”

Well said 'DOYIN OKUPE' but the Transformation Agenda of president Goodluck is not worth relying on 'cos the years he has used as the president of Nigeria, can be used to fulfil virtually, all his current so called TRANSFORMATION AGENDA(s).

Doyin was right, it's high time we come together to tackle issue when there is a national crisis and forget party affiliation. Can you imagine how everyone came together to win Ebov?

Al Qaeda attacked America once not severally and Al Qaeda didn't kidnap anybody or took over states in America. It's baseless and senseless to compare the WTC issue with BH. Bear in mind that W Bush visited Iraq couple of times, Iraq is several thousands of miles from USA but our dear Gej never visit any of the affected states less than 100 miles from Abuja for once. Can you imagine that? Naija youth use your brain please.

how many Americans are "destructively" criticizing Obama now they are battling with ISIS? how many Americans condemned the act of their government in IRAQ the way the likes of buhari and elrufai lambasted the govt agencies of fighting and destroying north with the fight against insurgency. Abeg, politics should be above bitternes cos some people that are dying because of the way this people are carelessly criticising our government, if you doubt u ask why America refused to sell arms to us. it was due to unnecessary criticism that they alleged that our soldiers are using the arms to abuse human rights making our soldiers to be fighting without sufficient arms
