Bus Stop Revolution By Laykorn. by Nobody: 8:09pm On Nov 11, 2014
Going to school today at the bus stop, there was more than the normal crowd waiting for the bus. On a normal day, the fare is 100 naira, but the few buses that could be seen increased the fare to 150 and people still fought for the buses.
.
I boarded one of the buses, but something crossed my mind. "If all the passengers had decided not to board the bus,the drivers wouldn't have had a choice than to decrease the fares to normal price. I felt a bit of guilt for boarding the bus because we were really being exploited and we wouldn't do anything about it.
.
I tried to figure out why the passengers didn't stage a protest not to board the buses. I decided that three things caused it.
.
1)Some of us didn't see it as a bad thing to pay the extra 50 naira, because they didn't see it that they really were being exploited.
.
2)Ignorance: some of us didn't know that staging a protest would force the drivers to comply.
.
3)Lack of vigour: Some of us didn't have the vigour of revolutionary spirit bouncing in us. Staging a protest would be too stressful for the.
.
4)Selfishness: If only some us hadn't thought of themselves alone and had thought about those of too,who struggled to pay the extra 50 naira, the revolutionary protest would have been staged.

The next day,the same thing almost happened. The conductor said the bus was 150. Two people were inside already. I was the 3rd person to enter. The story from the previous day flashed through mu mind and I got down from the bus. I deliberately got down in a fashion that attracted attention. The other would-be passengers stayed back too,and immediately the conductor spoke another language. He said:100 naira, with change o,if you no get change no enter o in a very harsh voice. I was happy with myself. That was revolution.
