reports that succor came the way of fifteen graduating students of Tai Solarin University of Education, TASUED, Ijagun, Ogun State, as the governor, Ibikunle Amosun publicly announced automatic employment for the students. The school which had a combined convocation ceremony for its graduates from three years back, churned out about 11, 000 students on Friday. The governor however offered automatic employment to the 2012/2013 Best Overall Graduating Student, Mr. Adeniji Kayode and 14 others who excelled with first class honors Amosun, made it known that as against popular belief, the school, TASUED has come to stay. Noting that the convocation ceremony was another seal of accomplishment at improving the educational system by giving qualitative education to would-be teachers, Amosun assured that affordable and qualitative education remains the focal point of his administration. “It gladdens my heart to note that you have relentlessly worked hard to sustain yourself in the midst of great number of higher institutions in Ogun state. TASUED has proven it is a great citadel of learning where academic excellence and good moral training are impacted on the students. “It is gratifying to note that in less than 10 years of being a full- fledged university, Tai Solarin University of Education has become one of Nigeria’s best universities, consistently among universities at the top of the Nigerian university League. Also, it has continued to be a pacesetter and trailblazer in the provision of qualified teaching corps. “This institution has not disappointed in its mandate of producing successful graduates that have carved a niche for themselves in their different endeavours and continued to contribute their quota to the socio-economic development of our great nation, ” Amosun remarked. Charging the graduates not to see their certificates as mere meal ticket, he implored them to develop their intellectual horizons and also equip themselves with the knowledge and skills to open not only them but the country to greater opportunities. While reinstating his administration’s commitment to making education more affordable, the governor disclosed that, “our administration reduced school fees in all the ten state-owned higher institutions of learning by 60 per cent in some cases. The goal of this policy is to make education more affordable to more people and create a relief for all parents.” Prof. (Mrs.) Oluyemi Obilade, the Vice Chancellor of the University, noted that the institution is the first university of education in Nigeria, second in Africa and eight in the world. She said it has been established on solid principles and platform which characterized the person of Tai Solarin, the late renowned educationist, who the school is named after. It would be recalled that just recently, the Nigerian Law School recently released the 2013/2014 August result, and about 4,000 students were said to have failed the examination which is a prerequisite for them to be called to Bar. |

Gbawe2: dont want to talk about pdp in ogun state, I am a local breed and my undergraduate days were during the pdp reign. I was in SS 1 when daniel started ilisan-ago iwoye road but he didnt do 30%work till 2011, it was all about abandoned projects. buruji is a known drug dealer, so what good can we possibly see in them. in ogun back then it was total lawlessness and it used to be a play field for cultists in broad day light especially within sagamu |

it is a good inituitive, i commend that little effort. he should atleast force every other parastatals and companies to employ more. do know why our universities goes on frequent and long strike? on very rear occasion, the lecturers are not paid adequately, and lack of good facilities. the major reason is to control the number of jobless graduates on the streets. a jobless student on long strike still has a sense of duty, he knows in his/her head that sometimes soon or later, the strike would be called off. but a graduate without a job will cause enormous trouble of the elite structure. adaybayor: |
