How time flies!

Modified*

Aside my brother and i nobody in my family dare ask about the bank details anymore because of the fact that he's with his goods and money when the tragedy struck though nobody gave the vivid account of his death, we only saw the gun wound on his neck and some scuffles showing he might ve had struggle with his assailants who probably knew him as a great dealer and distributor of recharge card.

Though it's 3 years now since this ordeal, we ve not done more to make a headway about this said account and the more i tried waving it aside the more the sense of absurdity and curiosity uphold me.

I am taking this day and this space in begging anyone that knows how to properly go about this issue to please come to my rescue because it always quake my sense of inner tranquility whenever the thought flash to my senses and many events recently trigger it. embarassed embarassed cry cry

if you are asking this in this modern time like you don't know where lawyers are then you must be a fraudster. if you are a fraudster, I pray the business of duping fails you woefully.

Op, if your brother did not leave you as his next of kin, there's no way you can claim his money. Go work hard for yours

Just wish u ll take ur time out and reread my post for complete comprehension. Expressed that it's 3years now and at the 1st instance i went to court as advised by the branch bank manager, the 'probate officer' told me that before everything would be carried out that i should ve to pay a visit to maiduguri where he opened the account in the 1st place which instantly immobilized my intent to carry on and thus wish to know if there's other means to peep into the account before setting out for this seemingly vague journey.

How does one actually know the actual next of kin since he's not married and we ve tried as much as possible to ve absolved my heart-broken mum from such venture. He's my eldest brother if you must know.
As i earlier on opined, it's 3years and counting and also i ve been surviving i wonder what informs you that i solely rely on your already acclaimed largesse for my utmost survival undecided undecided

From my post, i pleaded on anyone with useful and helpful contribution to come up and not mere abusers and jesters

^^^ The bank should have at least contacted the next of kin stated by your brother. I'm suspecting foul play here, you may need to employ the services of a lawyer.
Re: .... by Pimples(m): 12:25pm On Dec 03, 2014
I have always wondered...what happens to the account of a deceased customer?
I think all the branch manager has to do is just keep quiet for some time....and the money becomes his.
By the way, a lot of people are listed as next of Kin without knowing it.

The branch bank manager i met as at then told me that he since he didn't marry that, there exists no next of kin in that case...my fears is that i ignorantly gave him the account number cos he asked for it as i was about leaving his office then.
Re: .... by smokescreen4: 2:55pm On Dec 03, 2014
You shouldn't have given him the account number, well that is past you need to see a lawyer who would put you through, I wish you all the best.
Re: .... by bennyrazz: 3:17pm On Dec 03, 2014
are you the next of kin? if yes, all you need do is scandalize the bank, that is the only action/language they understand. Some of these nowadays lawyers are not trustworthy. You can get a journalist to do that for you. They can publish it on sun news papers or vanguard or this day. I hope that helps.

shut up ur dirty mouth, my dad died in 2005 and up till today, I have not been able to peep into his account not mention withdrawing from it. Lawyers will only write a letter of waiver of letters of administration and that's it. The bank will reject it and u will go back 2 square one.

fool, u think dis is a joke ? @op I found a strategy to collect the money, first of all go to the rivers state ministry for justice, ask for a guy called Chikere, he works there, u will be given a form to surrender all ur brothers estate to the. Chief justice of rivers state, after that go back to ur house and sleep, they will fight for the money and call u to come and collect it, but u will give them 10 percent of the money when it comes out. If not 4 d judicial crisis in rivers state I would have done mine.

well I'm currently pursuing the money in my late mom's account. first thing, get a lawyer then a death certificate from national population census. then the letter of administration from the customary court in the lga where the account was opened served in the same branch where the account was opened. The process is stressful sha but getting a lawyer who knows what he is doing makes it a bit easy.
Re: .... by prettimoi(f): 8:40pm On Dec 03, 2014
Op fear not, that u gave d account number to the manager wont make his money (if he had any) disappear.take dat death certificate to the court, with that u will be issued a bank certificate which u will take to any branch of the bank to officially obtain the balance in his account.the bank staff will write his balance and stamp behind the bank certificate.u will then take it back to the court and will be issued letter of administration giving u the right to claim every kobo he had, just like someone said, u will pay a percentage of wat he had to the court.u will either open an account in their bank and the cash transfered to your account or u will be issued a bankdraft.in this time and age u dont need to go to maiduguri to do this,it can be done in any of their branches.u dont need a lawyer.

You made a mistake giving him your brother's account number. Anyway,do you have a friend who works in the bank your brother opened account, the person can help you at least to the extent of knowing how much is in the account. Getting the money would be very difficult anyway.

Comprehensively assimilated sist. This ur analysis has really resuscitated my quest. I can as well give it a shot since i'm now assured dat Anything maiduguri isn't gonna rear up anywhere. Remain blessed.

@lofty900 i beg of u to just calm down n neglect
ppl who in spite of their daftness now claim to be custodian of wisdom. It beats me why Nigerians now enjoy generalizing n classifying everyone as fraudster without an atom of benefit of doubt.
Re: .... by lolaluv1(f): 11:24pm On Dec 03, 2014
The BM cannot touch your money. Banking is past all that now...past the stage where someone would just dip hands into an account.

Do you know why first bank, union and uba are So fat? Because they are sitting on hundreds of millions of dead people's money that has long been abandoned.

Get a good lawyer.
Re: .... by toniro(m): 12:08am On Dec 04, 2014
Well if this is true. It not rilly a problem. U need a lawyer. The lawyer gives u a leter of administration(loa). This u tak to d bank with which there the bank wil conduct a probate search on(thats not ur headache). Just get a lawyer for the LOA. Take this to d branch nearest to u. Going to d brch where acct was opened is old_school and by now;I am sure that has been scrapped. Be positive really cos it is difficult. Just som processes dat must be followed. D bank also does not want to pay d wrong hand!if there do. There can be sued you see. No bank want to be smirched wit that now. Bro. Sorry about d loss though.
Re: .... by toniro(m): 12:13am On Dec 04, 2014
D probate search by d bank is charged from d acct (5k) I suppose. It cud take 5_10 working day for d search to be out. U wil be contacted n asked for id's....driver license, voter card national Id shey u get. At d end of d day. U wil get it.
********I am sure u hav d death certificate by now.
please carry family members(bro. Sis.mom etc) as u do this process please o so all parties r informed lik going to d bank if possible. Thks
