The Nation reports that Ihonvbere
resigned his appointment after losing in
the primaries of the All Progressive
Congress (APC) where he contested for
the Edo North senatorial seat.
The former SSG, who hails from Owan
contested against Major Francis
Alimekhena, a contender from Estako.
According to a sources close to
Ihonvbere, the former SSG resigned
after alleging that Governor Adams
Oshiomhole connived with the Estako
tribe to humiliate him.
However, the Chief Press Secretary to
Governor Oshiomhole, Mr. Peter Okhiria,
in a statement issued on Tuesday, said
the Governor has accepted the
resignation of Prof. Ihonvbere.
Mr. Okhiria further stated that the
Governor thanked Ihonvbere for his
services to the state and wished him
well in his future endeavors.
It would be recalled that Oshiomhole
recently terminated the appointment of
Hillary Ekhoye, the Executive Director,
Public Procurement Agency.
Meanwhile, when Ihonvbere, was newly
sworn in to assist in the effort to take
Edo state to the next level, the SSG
banned solidarity visits in his office in
order to allow him focus on his new job.
