A former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Darius Ishaku, Thursday night emerged the winner of the Taraba State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the governorship primary election held at the party national headquarters in Abuja. He polled 170 votes. Earlier, the former acting governor of the state, Garba Umar, had stepped down. Musa John, also stepped down. Umar later clinched the party’s senatorial ticket for the state northern senatorial district. Ishaku, who is largely seen as a consensus candidate is from Takum Local Government Area of the state, has been an advocate of power to the southern senatorial district.
