Kaduna State Governor, Alhaji Muktar Ramalan Yero yesterday advised the All Progressives Congress, (APC) governorship aspirant Malam Nasir El-Rufai to stop dreaming about governing the state come 2015.
The governor said the former minister who was criticizing his administration was not ready to govern because he lacks full knowledge of activities in the state.
Speaking through his Director Media and Publicity, Ahmed Maiyaki at a press conference to mark his two years in office, Yero described El-Rufai’s candidature as laughable.
It could be recalled that El-Rufai recently criticized the state government for lack of development, saying the state is among the most indebted in the country.
“It’s laughable for somebody who is seeking to govern the state to be making comments that he knew were not true against the state government. We believe he was a dreamer to think he can govern the state because we believe he is not prepared for that position.
“Let him stop mocking himself, because we are ready to train and give him lessons for him to have full knowledge of government activities in the past two years. But with the comments coming from him we know he knew nothing about the state he wants to govern,” he said.
Maiyaki added that in the past two years, Yero’s administration has made tremendous achievements in virtually all sectors of the state.
“The state government within two years built and rehabilitated major schools in the state and environs, scholarships were also given to medical students of Kaduna State University, (KASU), to further their education at the International University Uganda,” he said.
He said the state government also recruited about 1,802 teachers in the educational sector.
On roads rehabilitation, Maiyaki said about 31 roads were so far completed as he denied the rumour that such roads have been abandoned by the state government, particularly in Southern Kaduna.
“11 out of the 31 completed roads initiated by past administrations as well as two out eight roads, several public buildings and bridges initiated by Yero-led administration have been commissioned already,” he said.
Maiyaki then appealed to politicians vying for offices to engage in campaign of issues instead of attacking opponents, saying his principal’s ambition is not worth the life of a single citizen of the state.
He prayed that 2015 election will be violence free as he wished that the state will never witness any political violence as witnessed in 2011 crisis.
