I listened to BBC News 24 today where the told news about scams in Nigeria. Apparently, the recycled computer were being transfered to Nigeria where they sell the hard drive for an approximately £15. Some people were arrested at an internet cafe in Lagos and that Nigeria government think otherwise while British government ssuspectsthere has being fraud. The showed a victim on the TV as well who said 'Idon't believe my bank details were recovered in Nigeria.

Now the Nigerians in UK will face another dimension of attitudes towards them by banks and some companies despite what is going on with immigration now.

Do you think Nigeria can ever change and what can be done to the internet cafes to make sure the risks of this scams are reduce to as minimum as possible?

Scams are everywhere. Nigeria is being run by scammers (2003 Poll). The Iraq war is a big scam. EFCC is a scam to haunt OBJ enemies and internet fraud is a scam. I do not believe all the data is gotten from recycled PCs as they would want Britons to belive, I think the probability that its through recycled PCs is slim. But definitely they sell UK bank details in Naija. The only way out of this internet 419 dat has become a fad among Nigerian youths is reorientation, poverty elimination and give us better things to do. No light, no better station to watch on TV, so they move to a cafe meet some guys and become initiated to the yahoo cult.

there are scammers all over the world but the reason why its always nigeria mentioned is that we scam openly believing that because we are in africa we cant get caught

Nigerians are tagged '419' and we are even enjoying the name. We should look for something to do apart from scamming and help others, we can't expect the governments to provide employment opportunities for us cause we know they are as useless as they can be.

Help yourself and remember others.

This is definitely going to worsen the reputation of Nigerians living in the UK, No naija would dare go look for a job in any of those high-street banks now. It quite ironic that the Islamic extremists still get jobs at Heathrow and Gatwick airport.
