Ladies easily marry for a change in social and financial status, so why can't men?

I think the op is much more realistic than most pretenders. The op could end up being luckier than most by attracting the right kind of partner for life.
It would also demonstrate, as our parents, grand parents and ancestors did, that the seeds of love can be sown, watered, nurtured and matured under the right frame of mind and purpose.
