My children don't own toy guns, and I have only boys. They are not allowed to play with such objects. I don't see the need.

My dear am curious to know because my elder brother came to my house this xmas with his family,he has a boy and a girl.l was so suprise the kind of sophisticated toy guns he bought for these children. They were really acting serious mafian film with it,more especially the little girl. Honestly l was shocked.

i saw same thing yesterday but with no guns but their hands and mouth to produce the gun sounds and bomb... So its not the gun alone movies..!

We should always discourage them. They shouldn't be made to believe that violence is attractive.

No, I dont.

Though I don't really like the idea, but I don't think it will turn them to terrorist or arm robbers in future. Because those terrorist and armed robbers out there didn't even play with toy gun. Some of them their parents can't even afford it.

My dad bought lots of toy guns for us as kids, i see nothing wrong in it but my dh doesn't like the idea so my kids don't own toy guns. I won't mind playing with them as an adult .

I played with toy guns when I was a kid and I turned out alright.

At least in my mind I turned out OK.

OP: I used to share some of your skepticism. However, things have changed. I would certainly buy toy guns for my children regardless of gender.
The world is not as innocuous as you would like to believe. No reason to live in denial. The skills they learn now might become useful and even save their lives someday.They should learn to play and when they grow up, they should learn to defend themselves.

Nothing wrong with toy guns imo but as parents we should teach our children that resolution of dispute should be done without violence first, violence is a last resort. Hold a carrot but wield your stick behind.

No... I don't even see toy guns in shops. Besides, there better educative and and interesting toys to buy.... Cant spend my dime on a toy gun....

My dad NEVER allowed my brothers play with toy guns when we were kids. Mum quickly hides it anytime it enters our house and gives it to the girls later bt NEVER the boys. Dad was and is still against it.
