Folks,  couldn't help it but share this with you all.  Call it spreading the xmas love  tongue

I am currently developing a site for a client who then refers me to a friend of his who in turn wants a site.  As I talk to the friend, it turns out I know him and he knows I develop websites.  He immediately says, "I actually have a website but it looks horrible.  What pisses me off the most is that it is only after I paid the guy that I remembered that you do websites (is he lying?  I don't know and don't care quite frankly though something says he is, but I digress)".

He then shows me the site.  Please bear in mind that the "webmaster" resides in the states (I bring this up as proof that being in a country where there is no lack for software/hardware doesn't guarantee, as someone YIMd me yesterday on, for quality work.  There are bad apples everywhere):

I just look the site, I weak.  He then says he will go back to his "partners" to see if the contract can be canceled.  At least he admitted that the site sucks and is in need of major improvement.  I give him that much.  Something says the "webmaster" charged cheap which is why they "jumped" for his services in the first place.  Personally, considering the site is still under construction, which is akin to foundation being laid, I would cancel it right now and "break down" all the "concrete".  It's better now than later because, if I am to do the site, I am going to delete the crap anyways  cool  Of course, I didn't tell him that.  Make d guy suffer for him mistakes small.  Not to mention, chances are that he won't come back.  Why give him the advice for free?  grin

Remember guys, some times, you get what you pay for.

I personally think he got far less than he paid for ,  thats more or less a one page 'calendar-looking' crap online ,   embarassed

And you are right  ,  knowledge/competence does not depend on geographical location

Lets hope he comes back and you give him the BIG BILL!!!  grin
