Professor Osinbajo does not have a PhD or its equivalent? by Francis5: 4:00am On Jan 15, 2015
Does it mean Osinbajo does not have a PhD? If so, how did he become a prof in modern day Nigeria?

I know both Chinua Achebe and Wole Soyinka became profs without PhDs, but that was in the very olden days. Osinbajo is just 55 or so. Therefore his becoming a prof must be quite recent, likely 10- 20 years ago, a period when professorship could only be attained after a doctorate and considerable postdoctorate achievement.

I love Buhari' s only WASC paper qualification record with INEC. It is not a reflection of the truth as far as his educational accomplishments are concerned but the noise is just generating votes for him in the north.
For the young urban professionals Muslims / Christians in the north it is like persecution and they will punish his opponents for it with their votes, the urban semi educated self employed will also follow the trend. For the millions of rural young unemployed/semi employed including the migrant Fulani (almajiris), this is what they actually want in a president (no tainted western education) and they will vote massively for him because of it.

The SW is completely unaffected by the propaganda. They know Buhari well as head of state and petroleum minister. Younger people know him as PTF chief during Abacha. His anti corruption credentials are also well known and more importantly they know he will give mostly ideological direction but most of the work of governance will be done by their son, Osinbajo. Buhari also has a new westernized young family with a make up artist/beauty consultant wife and a stunning daughter whose pictures have been trending quite nicely on Twitter.

The moral of the story; know the demographics of the voting population in the election and make sure your propaganda works within each important demographic group otherwise, can it completely. It will come back to bite you. The APC also made the mistake last week taking the anti corruption credentials of Buhari to Abia and Ananbra. The SE aggregated demographics have only a minor concern about corruption for now because they have not even seen good government presence for years. They have never depended on govt and self help projects are commonplace. The message at Enugu was better with a promise to urgently revive coal mines and power generation.

It is modest enough to attract his political base is the point here and when you falsely publish a low qualification for him you are reinforcing him within his base while his next strong political base is just amused by the noise. Buhari of course has higher qualifications than WASC. There is no Nigerian Army General that is not well educated.

Whose responsibility is it to provide aspirants qualifications? INEC or the aspirants?

It is not his responsibility to provide 'Bleep-all' for the INEC that deemed him qualified to contest three times in the past. It is the responsibility of INEC to have done certificate verification all the times he contested. As I said many times, most of the schools in the north at the time had British teachers and we were not forging results then.
Also the man received higher qualifications at the military schools and foreign trainings he did. However all this is just unnecessary vituperations not going anywhere, if they have the balls let them disqualify the man.
