I opened account like 5 years back with a name different from real name. I did not use any I.D to open the account, i carried my friend along who acted as my referee.

yesterday morning, my friend sent me 18k to the account to the account, when i went to bank to withdraw the money, the customer care told me the account has turned to dormant and therefore i need an I.D card to activate the account.

Now, that is where the problem is, i dont have any i.d card carrying the name attached with the account.

How do i get my money back pls?

because it didn't reach to it's destination na, so the bank will send it back wherever it comes from. inquire more from the customer department of your bank. so in one word your 18k is safe

What prompted you to open an account with fake details in the first place?

My dear, i wonder why some of the youths here in Nigeria are always after the shortest means of making money. If not to use the account for scam purposes, what else could have prompted him to open an account with fake details. And the AO managing his account failed to carry out adequate KYC.

I have witnessed where a female banker got arrested for failing to confirm a fake address provided by one of the bank's customers. This customer got involved in some fraudaulent activities and when the Law Enforcement Agents demanded to know his address, this lady took them to the supposedly place of abode and behold, no one in the compound or vicinty of that area knew this fellow as a nighbour. No proper KYC. She was just in a hurry to open accounts. Lack of professionalism i must say...

But since you are trying to tarnish my image by accusing me of being a scammer, i will tell you why i opened the account with name different from my real name.

I open the account like 5 years back when i was in secondary school to claim the scholarship of my immediate brother whom he said he cannot waste his time because of 15k. When i went to the scholarship board for screening, they said i must bring account number with the name similar with that attached to the credentials i presented to them. So thats how i got to the ownership of bank different from my real name. I hope i have make it clear thanks.

I am not here to tarnish you or anyone at that. I only based my conclusion from the initial information you provided. Earlier you said you opened the account like 1 year back, now it is 5 years back, hmmmm!

And the purpose for opening the account under a false name was still for ulterior motives like you rightly pointed out here...
