[b]I would say the vast majority of Satanists are against animal sacrifice but would defend a person's right to do it. I don't defend a person's right to kill an animal as a sacrifice but for me it is purely an ethical reason as I just don't believe in the exploitation of animals for what ever reason. I really don't believe that Satan wants us to kill in his name. Yes kill an animal (or human) if we are being attacked and it's a me or them situation but sacrifice for sacrifice sake makes no sense to me. Of course it's not just Satanism that has had a culture of animal slaughterer in it's past and present many religions have. Including Santeria, Islam,Judaism and Christianity. I think as followers of Satan we should walk our own path and not follow the example of other religions. Of course there are a few Satanists that do believe in animal sacrifice, some do it because they think that's what they are supposed to do, so there is a change they do not treat the animal with respect after all the word Sacrifice means to make sacred. If you are killing it for Satan then you should treat the animal well. Click this link for a well written piece on how to kill a sacrificial animal.
