A group, CITAR-NGO, yesterday praised Governor Ibrahim Shema for allowing Government College, Katsina to release the results of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. It said it was a unique political development for the governor to have allowed the college to follow due process without interference. The group made the commendation in a statement by its Executive Director, Mohammed Yakubu (Jikan Wakili).
The statement said: “In the light of the furore created by the General Muhammadu Buhari certificate saga, we wish to strongly commend the conduct and maturity of the government of Katsina State in the way it maintained total neutrality by allowing due process to take its course. “Gen. Buhari, who is from Katsina State, is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while the Katsina State government is under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The issue of Gen. Buhari’s secondary school certificate has been a subject of intense debate and controversy especially between the two leading political parties in the presidential race scheduled for February 2015. “Our commendation of the government of Katsina State stems from the prompt manner that Buhari’s former school, Government College Katsina, which is under the direct supervision of the Katsina State Ministry of Education allowed due process to prevail and by so doing allowing the school to release Gen. Buhari’s results. “We note with pleasure that even though Gen. Buhari belongs to the APC while the Katsina State government is under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the State government did not interfere with the independence of the school or the Ministry of Education in processing Gen. Buhari’s request for his school certificate results to be released.

I really commend Gov Shema for not playing the APC's politics of oppression.

I remember Bola Tinubu's certificate saga. He claimed to have attended Government College Ibadan (GCI), when the school was approached to get Tinubu's certificate; the then governor of Oyo state Lamidi Adesina (Lam) packed all the certificates and historical information needed to unearth Tinubu as a bare-faced liar.

He even threatened the then principal with a sack if he dare speak to the press.
