Yeah, I'm tired of this country. Imagine what happened at ojuelegba yesterday: how can the Army and the Police be fighting]?

4 innocent people declared dead, several others injured, more than 200 cars burnt down. Hooligans in the police cells have escaped. The amoury was opened and guns and other military equipments were looted by hooligans on the looose.

Where else can such a thing happen if not Nigeria? It's really sad sad

We have no other alternative than to condone the evils deeds of our treacherous leaders in govt

Maybe oneday God ll deliver us from this dilemma.

As for now we have to live in abject penury n poverty till the Messiah who ll take us to the Promise Land comes.

If you're tired of naija, where do you want to run to?

Are there no evil in other countries? The other day na KATRINA, later na RITA, only God knows what next it'ld be for the Americans. No matter what is happening in Naija, let's just keep on praying for her peace daily please. What is happening in Iraq daily is far far less compared to Naija own o. At least we still dey see rice and beans chop, even if it's not as regular as expected. There are some countries that war, famine, hunger, insecurities are the order of the day o.

All, let's thank God for keeping us in peace, though not always and at the same time pray for God's peace always.

All una wey wan be ANDREWS make una no check out o. cool

Re: I am Tired Of This Country (Nigeria) by c0dec(m): 7:59pm On Oct 05, 2005
but nigeria own too much abeg.

in those famine and hunger regions, their situation is consistent. the light at the end of their tunnel is off.

in nigeria however, the light at the end of the tunnel keeps coming on and going off. the corruption and weakness of 9ja is so open. everybody can see it. everybody knows where the problem is but nobody can fix it.

Re: I am Tired Of This Country (Nigeria) by inyang(m): 3:26am On Oct 06, 2005
Look for solutions you can implement

Divine intervention may come long after you've died so less of calling on supreme deity to solve self created problems

Let us have some positive posting instead of just complaints, what can be done in the situation you find yourself or really bothers you?

I dont think there is any solution to 9jar's problem than going to war, which i don't pray for. nigerians are not only pused to wall, they've jumped the wall and yet this evill leaders are still after them angry angry

Keep up with the international news and you will learn that other countries are going through the same or even worst.  However, remember, solutions begin with you making a change.

i agree, war and peace start at home. Consumers have the power to change the world. Do not think that the small things you do to spread peace and understandingdo not matter, they do. Good people of this world!

Do the obvious, quit or mobilize your friends and neighbours for civil disobedience. This is our land Charlatans must be chased out. If Mobutu, Idi-amin and the likes could be chased out. We can and must do same.
The current imposters cannot kill all of us and live alone. who will they rule? As long as you keep quiet and pretend as if it is well, doing nothing, so long will we lament.
Resist your corrupt, wicked or tribalistic brother/sister now and things will change.

Silence is not Golden.... it sustains evil

Action is not lame... it drives you, through your enemies to your promise land.
Re: I am Tired Of This Country (Nigeria) by HENRO77(m): 4:10pm On Oct 13, 2005
I think that there is need for each and everyone of us to have a 'rethink' and possibly that will affect our mentality and perception of the country Nigeria.

In as much as we all agree that Nigeria is bad, the big question is what or who makes Nigeria bad? The answer I think is you and I (personal opinion).

what it therefore means is that we must develop the right attitude and try to shine our light in our little corner and then hopefully and God willing our bad leaders will have no option than to emulate our good work and change some of their bad policies and then we can have a better Nigeria.

Moreover I want us to borrow a leaf from our brothers and sisters in Liberia that after over 20 years of war and suffering have still come together to think of the way forward. Let us try and think of the forward and not get tired or weary. Like the preacher let us sow in the morning and not give up in the evening cos we don't know the one that will produce.

I encourage you brother and every other person reading this to seek the face of God on behalf of our country and God willing we will still have a great Nigeria again and retrace our path that we lost a long time ago

I think we need someone who can organize a rally in front of the senate building or the house of reps. and demand a better standard of living for the people of naija. And then why stop there, maybe we should rally infront of the African Union head quarters (whereever that is) and demand a better standard of living for all Africans.
I know it sounds impossible, but if we truly are the descendants of the same people who built the mighty pyramids, then whats holding us back.

If everyone is tired of this country, where do we go from here and who do will leave the country for to repair for us?? You now see that the restoration of this country lies in our hands(YOU and ME).Let us rise to the challenge and begin to fight corruption from your very house and I want to assure you that once corruption problem is solved, poverty will be a bit alleviated and once this is done, then NIGERIA will be the NIGERIA of our dreams again. Please, lets join hand together to make our country great so that others can come here to see solace too.

Ah yes, that age-old immigrant's question gets asked again:

Is is preferable to be a first-class citizen in a third-world country, or a third-class citizen in a first-world nation ?

My fav Musician of all time FELA ABAMI EDA said if you tired go jump over mainland bridge and end it now, people complain too much.  The question should be how can you make a difference in Nigeria and not complain about the situation.

Why not sit down and count your blessings.
Average Nigerians live in better houses today?
They drive better cars.
Despite inflation,they eat better food.
They host better parties.
etc.
and
yet they cry and complain better than ever,

Anyhow,I suggest you guys cross over to Niger republic or Chad.Thats if you are still tired of Nigeria.

The problem with Nigeria is highlighted in this post,

People calling on 'God' instead of being proactive,

Amen!! Perhaps these people whom always insinuate that god will solve their problems,  have forgetting that god will only help those whom choose to first help themselves. There's no salvation without sacrifice, folks. I don't mean to sound arrogant or anything by saying this, but, during the Civil Rights movement here in the US, we African Americans vouched heavily on our belief that god was on our side and that he would help us through to an successful end, though at the same time we didn't sit on our hunches feeling sorry for ourselves awaiting god to make everything better for us; we went out and protested to the nation and world, we marched the streets, complained to whomever would listen, and dared to go and do thing we were told not to, and even got a little violent with it at times.

In short we strived to make our own lives better in this nation, while at the same time calling on god to give us an helping hand in our struggle, and sure enough we succeeded, and I have no doubt that this too can work in Nigeria. If you are feeling misrepresented in your society, then it is you whom must speak up and protest and act-out your ass off to get that problem solved, not gods.

@Topic. . .first thing after seeing this topic was to laugh at the first post but this is not a laughing matter.

@Uche. . .I don't mean to pick on you but PLEASE, why is it that everything in NAIJA, it is GOD that we mention first? How can we be waiting for God when HE himself, for such a long time, has been waiting for NIGERIANS (human beings) to do things right! GOD will never do for a man that which he has given the RESPONSIBILITY and ABILITY to do! Gosh, I admit I have seen people who ask for alms over here (and this is just a province, not the whole country). . .they are very few! But that is not all. . .all of the 'beggars' are paid welfare and taken care of. . .if they have anything called abject poverty it's their CHOICE, mostly. Why can't Nigeria even do SOMETHING worthwhile and stop calling on GOD for the most basic things other countries have been able to do? Nigeria has so much natural resources, impressive human resources, the climate is great for planting almost year round. . .how can GOD be expected to come and do what again? Assuming he will do anything else, what have WE done with what we have had for YEARS??

Sir Kay:

If you're tired of naija, where do you want to run to?

All una wey wan be ANDREWS make una no check out o. cool

@Sir Kay. . .you make a valid point about natural disasters in other countries. . .can you imagine what will happen if any of those calamities. . .which man has very little / no ability to control were to happen in Nigeria? In some of those countries, yes they are not perfect, but my goodness. . .we see how they respond to almost ANYTHING. . .I am sure GOD himself sees how they respond to the smallest harm to anything. . .a baby in an accident, an old man in a collision, even animals. . .early this year. . .some hundreds of birds died because they landed on a tailing pond. . .belonging to an oil company in Canada. . .OMG, it was in the news for several days. . .in Nigeria, if all the birds were to die. . .would the government (or anyone) notice and so something about it. . .holding the company responsible? So, my point: some people do everything they can do to solve their problems. . .not waiting on GOD. . .but we wait and wait. . .can you imagine if good food was served on your table and after all the trouble of cooking it. . .you now wait for someone (wife, mum, girlfriend) to come and put it in your mouth. . .chew it for you and swallow it. . .that is what we do when we say it is GOD this. . .GOD that!

Finally, let me assure you I love Naija. . .was back last year. . .plan to be there again this year. . .but what a load of stress reading all the terrible news? If Naija was only 15% what it is to live elsewhere (places we like to visit / move to) and getting progressively better. . .few Nigerians will wish to live outside Nigeria. However, the Naija we all love. . .home is home. . .has sent thousands to their early grave. . .no one will ask a question and after the usual noise. . .it is forgotten. To get a good job, trouble; to sleep in your house with two eyes closed, trouble; go out at any hour of the night, danger; you're smart in school and you should get a scholarship, most of the money would already be stolen and shared; you wear Nigerian green color, soldiers will kill you; you refuse to give N20 roja, police will kill you; you dress in your isale-apoti (decent clothes), kidnappers / robbers will get you, you drive your car while the naval ratings are blaring their sirens (not an emergency or going to war), you may as well be beaten to death. . .what does the government do. . .NOTHING! Everyone can shout until they are blue in the face. . .nothing ever comes out of it!

So, how can we ever say it is GOD that will do this or that. . .why don't we deal with what we CAN deal with and let GOD worry about the ones we can't? In the foreign countries Nigerians travel to. . .it is very possible to get a very good job without knowing anyone, you see the cops. . .you can walk up to them and have a chat about anything that interests you or ask a question, they will answer with smiles, I have talked to soldiers and naval men in their military tanks/vehicles. . .they will answer all your questions. . .even take pictures with you and tell you what they do and how any military equipment you see works. . .even let you play with it. . .if you wear their branded military gear. . .no one will harass you. . .they appreciate you and see it as patriotism. . .the list goes on and on. . .almost inexhaustible! The "war, famine, hunger, insecurities" you mentioned can only be avoided if NIGERIAN leaders begin to do the right thing before everything finally "kaput". . .otherwise. . .when the country goes belly-up (I pray not). . .it will not be GOD's fault but OURS!!
