The President sits back and allow institutions do their work The vigour with which he carried on campaigning does not betray a man trying to postpone elections I believe him. The NSA and the Army chief in their own capacity advised Jega about military support or lack of it due to the escalated war in the North East. Jega thereafter made a decision! This is even though council of State chaired by Jonathan had advised that the elections should go on! That's various institutions working and making their own professional judgements! Nigerians are so used to captive or siege mentality that any sembelance of freedom is unreal We are so used to overbearing Presidents that we can't believe that a President can choose not to interfere with institutions! Obama said it that Africa needs strong institutions and not strong men! Well our institutions are getting strengthened but Nigerians can't believe it! It's too good to be true! |
