Today markes the beginning of lent. All Catholics worldwide are starting today with ash Wednesday. Can someone please explain the meaning of lent and ash Wednesday so that some people can get informed. Because to me it is another symbolic ritual. |

Lent isn't observed only by Catholics. It symbolizes the fasting period of Jesus Christ and Christians use this period to humble themselves before God and to renew their strength for the race. Ash Wednesday is the day the Lenten period starts and the ash just symbolizes the rending of ones heart before God and coming to Him the way you are. This is my understanding of the topic. |
