hello Vickers, first of all you have to work on passing Jamb with good grades then you have to start working on yourself. Read any thing you come across, make it a challenge to learn a new word everyday, devour newspapers and practice writing news stories from them. If you intend to go into broadcast, practice your intonation, pronounciation and pitch and have a friend access you. Its very competitive out there, you will have coursemates who are already practicing so in other to be the best you have to bring yourself to speed. Watch good tv like BBC, channels etc, listen to radio too. Find a mentor, understudy the person and strive to be better than the person. Finally when you get to school and you have opportunity to lead group works, don't hesitate its exposure especially for leadership, intern at your school fm, write to newspapers and you are on your way to a starling career. Goodluck!
