An entire village in Hungary is up for rent for £500 per day, which includes four streets, a bus stop, a barn and peace and quiet for miles around.

Megyer, in the north west of the country, has a tiny population of just 18 and comes with guest houses that sleep 39 people in total.There are also six horses, two cows, three sheep and a chicken yard on four hectares (10 acres) of land – which could add up to there being more animals than humans.The person who ends up renting the village gets everything included as well as the temporary title of “deputy mayor”.

The scheme is in hope to raise money so the 11th century hamlet – based 120 miles (190 kilometres) away from Budapest – can be upgraded.
